Re: Oregon @ Hawaii (4 game series)
I dislike playing @ Hawaii... Seems like there is a direct correlation between performance and that trip.
Of course, if someone were to offer me an expense paid trip, I would probably consider it...

Re: Oregon @ Hawaii (4 game series)
hawaii is always pretty good, always tough to start out the season in the islands. they won the wac last year.
jones got shelled last year in a game we ended up losing 11-10, kuedall had a very nice outing to help the ducks earn the split. jones was iffy for the first half of last year in general, he got a lot better as the season went on.
i honestly don't know what the rainbows have coming back. i do know we're 3-6 against hawaii since rebirth, 8 of those 9 games coming in hawaii.

Who all are going to carry the Ducks' games - I was disappointed in my GoDucks.com subscriptions the past 2 years.

nice article on coach woz on the eve of the season.
making everyone in the lineup a tough out would be a big improvement on where we left things. we had waaaaaaaay too many 6 pitch innings last season. our sophomore class is really good, and we have some big time freshman capable of joining the line-up. let's hope he can mold these kids into a productive offense.

Re: Oregon @ Hawaii (4 game series)
pitching match-ups (2011 stats):
alex keudell (7-3, 2.89) vs. matt sisto (5-5, 3.67)
jake reed (0-0, 0.00) vs. jarrett arakawa (5-4, 4.50)
brando tessar (1-1, 2.08) vs. scott squiere (0-0, 0.00)
? vs. ?
neither team has named a monday starter yet. this early, especially for us, we'll probably throw anyone out of the bullpen who wasn't used much the first three days. that could be an issue for us, because hawaii can hit the ball and keudell is on a pitch count and reed will be making his first ever start. tessar will be making his second career start, after blanking gonzaga through six innings (3 hits) in a midweek game last year.
sisto made 15 starts for the rainbows last year, arakawa 13. so they've got us in the experience department. sisto actually beat us in game one last year, dueling with tyler anderson. 6.1 IP, 2 ER, 6 H. didn't get the win, but pitched very well. we hit arakawa very well, he pitched twice in relief for a total of 3 innings, and we knocked him for four runs. he took the loss in the series finale.
according to the weekly media release, the outfield situation still isn't quite settled. unless a freshman can take a spot away from garlick i still say garlick/thomas/jones from left to right, but i guess we'll see.

Re: Oregon @ Hawaii (4 game series)
i think there's a good chance we go 0-4 next week when we hit tennessee. vandy will spank us, and belmont is really good.
so... let's try to win this series.
