Re: Oregon @ Hawaii (4 game series)
jake reed 6.0 ip, 5 h, 1 er, 4/3 k/bb
thorpe 0.1 ip, 0/2 k/bb
sherfy 5.2 ip, 2 h, 0 er, 13/4 k/bb
some great pitching by some youngins'. sherfy was downright filthy, i want to say (but too lazy to confirm) 13 k's is a single game high by a duck since our rebirth, matched only by tyler anderson in a start last year.
hawaii left SIXTEEN men on base. we looked very comfortable pitching out of the stretch and we dealt with the pressure of making a big pitch with men on base.
payne was 4/5, and obviously scored the go-ahead run pretty much all by himself. if you're going to go 1/5, it's best to do it the brett hambright way: knock in two with a huge 2 rbi double to knot up the game. our top three in the order (alto/jones/healy) all had two hits.
seriously, though. sherfy. talk about taking an opportunity and running with it. i want to say (but again too lazy to confirm) that he only had, like, two appearances last year.

2-0 after two. tessar has allowed a walk, but that's it. big bats coming up this inning, let's push through a couple more runs.

no problemo.
5-0 ducks, runners at 2nd and 3rd, still one out. heineman scored on a payne fielder's choice, alto to 3B, payne went to 2B on a bad throw.

This game is on TV btw on FCS (fox sports) PAC.
8-0 Oregon.
oregontrack- where are "experts" picking Oregon to finish in the conference? I know that this year's team is very young and lost some very good players to the draft.
