No I don't think this year. The following year tho I think they'll be better for sure.

Does anyone have Costa´s and DT´s stats when they were competing for the job a few years ago?

Re: Will Stanford be good this year?
yes, but it will be tough for them starting out.
I see them 9-3: With early losses to USC and @UDub, and going on a big winning streak before losing to us.

Stanford will be good, not great. They have potential to re-gain their brief greatness if all their top recruits pan out

Re: Will Stanford be good this year?
Stanford still has the pieces to be a power football juggernaut, but lack an elite RB. Gafney and Taylor are good, but there's not a Gerhart quality back on the roster. Third best back is probably the incoming Sanders who is more scat than power. Stanford needs a Blount, Ingram or A. Peterson type back who can make three yards, shed a tackler and then make 5 more yards fairly consistently - and also have potential breakaway speed. I dont' see one on their roster.
Then you add in a rookie QB and virtually no experienced WRs to stretch the field. Cris Owusu, when he wasn't taking a nap on the playing field, was one hell of a good wide reciever. Almost Criner good. Some of those catches against Oregon in 2009 were simply ridiculous. At least the new QB will have one or two of those 6' 7ish" TEs to throw to. But when you can't stretch the field, teams will camp in the box and play all 11 within 15 yards of the LOS.
I also wonder a bit about Coach Shaw's ability to keep the lightning in the bottle. Love him or hate him, Coach Harbaugh was/is extroverted and passionate about football. Shaw seems to orbit much closer to the vest - at least publicly - and despite highly ranked recruiting classes, particularly on the lines, I see Stanford setting into a slow downward spiral.
This year, 8 or 9 wins would not surprise at all.
