I would be shocked if he actually ever plays for us, but time will tell.

Even my optimistic view says see ya... I would love for him to play for the ducks, but I am not going to get excited about. Sick of recruits breaking my heart lol.RanDux wrote:http://www.oregonlive.com/mlb/index.ssf ... draft.html

Is Aaron Jones going somewhere? He's one of our better bats.oregontrack wrote:sure would look good out there as a replacement for aaron jones in the outfield.

Re: Carson Kelly
Surprisingly Kelly didn't get picked in the first 60 picks today. Either teams cooled due to performance or they felt he was a risk to pick because he wants to play college ball. The chances he plays in Eugene sure got a lot better tonight.
As for Jones he might be back but is draft eligible.

Re: Carsen Kelly
yep. like jack marder last year.
well, selfishly (for us) i suppose it's good that kelly wasn't taken today. but most projections i saw had him going in the supplemental round or early in the 2nd, so he's still within the range he was expected to go in. if he truly believes he's a first round talent maybe he'll stick with us and earn it in college. seeing us play in omaha sure wouldn't hurt our chances...

There's hope. What kind of range does a pick like that make?pdxduck wrote:Kelly goes #86 to the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Oregonian had it at just over $574K, which is good money, but not exactly money that would ensure he signs with them.UOducksTK1 wrote:There's hope. What kind of range does a pick like that make?pdxduck wrote:Kelly goes #86 to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Yeah, that's a really good sign. I really thought he would be a top 40 lock, so this is good.greenyellow wrote:The Oregonian had it at just over $574K, which is good money, but not exactly money that would ensure he signs with them.UOducksTK1 wrote:There's hope. St. Louis took a lower-tier guy in the compensation round. Wouldn't be surprised if the Cardinals offer closer to $800k-$1 million to Kelly. Unfortunately, I think he's gone.UOducksTK1 wrote:Yeah, that's a really good sign. “If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

Re: Carsen Kelly
They can't offer more since each draft position is slotted for a certain amount of money, and at #86, that pick is slated for $574,300.uostudent wrote:St. Louis took a lower-tier guy in the compensation round. Looks as if he's going to decide by week's end so we'll know pretty quickly.

Greenyellow, from your second link it sounds like they can offer more, but are unlikely to offer substantially more:greenyellow wrote:They can't offer more since each draft position is slotted for a certain amount of money, and at #86, that pick is slated for $574,300.uostudent wrote:St. Louis took a lower-tier guy in the compensation round. "The assigned signing bonus slot for the No. 86 pick is $574,300, a number that can be negotiated, but is unlikely to considerably rise."
From the way Kelly talks, the Ducks are still a very real possibility:
"Because the signing bonus isn’t a substantially life-changing amount of money, Kelly said his decision 'is definitely tougher. It’s a step in the process. I hope to see what happens and I’ll make a decision with my family.'"
He has really enjoyed his visits to UO.

Easy to say that 550+K isn't a lot of money/life altering money when it isn't your money lol. Say he suffers a serious injury (acl, tommy john etc), he probably wouldn't sniff 550k signing bonus. Kid has a difficult decision to make.
