17.6 PPG/10 RPG/1.7APG Transfer possibility from Tulane?

Post by woundedknees »

6'7"/208 lb Tulane Grad Josh Davis may be looking to leave program.

http://www.nola.com/tulane/index.ssf/20 ... d_l_1.html

"Davis, a junior who was the team's leading scorer this past season, came to Tulane as a transfer from N.C. State in 2010. He sat out the following season and now has played two seasons for Coach Ed Conroy."

"Davis averaged 17.6 points and 10.7 rebounds a game this season. in 2011-12,
Davis averaged 11.2 points and 9.3 rebounds a game."

"The CBS report said Davis had been granted his release. Tulane hasn't commented on this news or about Ricky Tarrant's decision to leave the school."

According to a poster on BuckeyeSports.com, "Good FT shooter. Looks like he turned the ball over a lot. But tenth in the country in rebounding and one of only 13 players in the country to average a double-double...."

For 2012/2013, Davis averaged 50% from 3 pt range.

Anything that says he's looking at Oregon? And any questions about the character of a guy transferring to his third school?

The release was evidently approved in the last couple days, and he is reported to be one of 4 players bailing on Tulane, this off-season.

None of what I have read indicates a school preference.

http://www.sportsnola.com/sports/tulane ... ogram.html

Tulane released a statement confirming all four releases:

"Tulane men’s basketball sophomore guard Ricky Tarrant has requested and been granted a release to speak with other institutions regarding a transfer from the university.

Additionally, junior forward Josh Davis and senior guard Ben Cherry, who will graduate from Tulane in May, have requested and been granted permission to speak with other institutions about graduate participation.

Davis is also considering his professional basketball opportunities, but his options also include a return to the Green Wave for a senior season.

In addition, sophomore post Lotanna Nwogbo has requested and been granted a release to speak with other institutions regarding a transfer from Tulane."

"According to Goodman, Davis could return to Tulane, begin a career overseas, or transfer to a high-major program, the last of which is the most likely."

Wow, that's almost too perfect sounding to be true. Exactly what we need. I'm sure Altman is all over it.

The part I like is that he sounds like a hustle guy on the boards, which we really need with the departure of Kazemi and Singler, with at least a decent shooting touch, which is another immediate need.

That, as well as being a short timer, which could help ease the potential for a boom/bust cycle (such as we all learned to hate) developing.

Really like the sound of this potential transfer than any of the others. We really need rebounding as mentioned above, Davis sounds fairly ideal to what Oregon needs.

Of course a 8 foot center who could block and rebound would be nice, but..

Wonder if DA is checking out this kid, 6'10-11" C Joseph Uchebo, from Chipola, who apparently averaged 12/12 for the 2011-12 season (Sat out this year with an injury), and would have 3 years of eligibility?

http://www.jucorecruiting.com/brooks-of ... ting-news/

He visits Pitt next weekend. Chipola was where DA found Malcolm Armstead and Jeremy Jacob.

Uchebo played HS ball at Word of God Academy, which produced John Wall. Originally, he committed to NC St, over Kentucky, but apparently failed to qualify.

I think EK found Armstead. But this is an intriguing find. As long as he can rebound!

Come to think about it, you are correct about Kent, concerning Armstead and Jacob, but there is still at least a tenuous relationship established with Chipola.

Guys who average a double/double at any level are always intriguing to me. This kid , as well as Jamal Jones, the prospect offered by the Ducks a few days ago, seem to pass the eyeball test.

Of course, the proof is in the pudding. Until Altman signs somebody and gets them on the floor, who knows?

Altman has made a living at Oregon, and even before, mining the transfer vault.

Amazing what he has pulled off since arriving.

Guess the Longhorns are losing a kid named Sheldon McClellan, a 6'5" SG/SF who was a 4* out of HS.

He's supposed to be quite the shooter.

But I'm not sure Oregon needs another perimeter guy, especially with the signing of the 2 JCs and Lapray this year.
