Just playing devil's advocate, but it might be due to his size and also because he showed elbow problems last season. Who knows though.greenyellow wrote:Surprised Sherfy has gone yet and it's the 8th round.

Re: Draft
Didn't realize Wiper was draft eligible. Yes a surprise, though he had a lot of talent coming out of hs and the TJ surgery set him back.....
I'm surprised McFarland nor Christie have been selected, as both came in rated high. Maybe they were asking to much in signing bonus. Who knows.

Re: Draft
Didn't think he was either but he's barely eligible since his birthday is 06/03/92. Moved up 4 rounds from where he drafted out of HS. Not sure if he'll go.uosportsguy01 wrote:Didn't realize Wiper was draft eligible. Yes a surprise, though he had a lot of talent coming out of hs and the TJ surgery set him back.....

As for McFarland and Christie, be kind of nice if they managed to somehow show up at Oregon.

Re: Draft
Dane McFarland goes to Arizona in the 12th round (#360 overall.) Not sure which way he's leaning but from what I've read, he was pretty likely to go pro no matter where he was drafted, although that may change with how low he went now.

Re: Draft
the mlb draft does not work like other professional drafts. cole wiper has great stuff and loads of raw potential, that's why he was drafted. 'being awful' as a pitcher, when you have the stuff wiper has, usually is a mixture of command and developing secondary pitches. that's what four years of minor league ball is for.

Re: Draft
If all of these guys end up signing, the ducks are in big trouble next season.
