I really don't get this contract. I know they told him his role will expand, but they said that last year too, and it shrunk instead. Hope it works out for him; I love it when any Duck makes it to a second contract. I assume Portland had no interest, but I thought he would make a great backup to Scoot here.
Don’t get it from which side?

Yeah all the evidence you need that they sincerely plan to give him a bigger role is the fact that they're locking him in at $8M fully guaranteed for the next four years. That move only makes sense for Boston if they expect him to get more minutes than he's been getting.

From either side. It just seemed like they didn't like him enough to re-up. If they like Payton why did they trade for Brogdon and sit Payton the whole year? And why would Pritchard want to re-sign with someone who valued him so little? Must have been some interesting conversations leading up to that extension. Anyway, I hope his role does expand; I'd like to see more of him on the court.

He's better trade bait now that he's locked in.

Ya I'm not sure from the Boston Side, but I assume Payton was just happy to lock up his financial future, he never has to worry about money again now and can just focus on basketball.

I was surprised by PP signing this. If he thought he deserves to be playing more minutes then this contract doesn't fit.
I still don't see him getting more than 13-14 min a game unless there's an injury.

We still claim Dillon Brooks as a duck right? During a tv timeout at the USC game they showed highlights of pro ducks, both football and basketball, and the crowd boo’d when Dillon Brooks came on the screen.

I have been thinking about once a Duck always a Duck some lately., I have no trouble know Bo is and will always be a Duck, not a Tiger. Boi Boi only played in seven games as a Duck, I struggle thinking of him as a true Duck on the same level as Pritchard or Mariota. Unfortunately the thug, Brooks, is a Duck in my mind…….. those sack slaps are embarrassing as a Duck fan.

In general, I always root for Brooks to do well. I also have no problem acknowledging his flaws and, at times, clownish behavior. He has earned his NBA villain reputation (I don't think he cares). It is what it is....I'm just glad he refrained from going off the deep end while at Oregon.

Is this a serious question? Dillon Brooks is one of the most important duck basketball player of all time. IMO you could easily make the argument that he is the greatest duck basketball player of all time.

How in the world are people booing him? Are you sure that happened?

If it's in reference to his play in the NBA, then I think people aren't properly educated. As far as I know, he is a solid NBA player that plays hard and annoying defense that sometimes crosses over the line of dirty....Ya, I've seen some of those plays, but how are a few dirty plays enough to disqualify this guy as a being a duck ..... IMO part of his reason for success in the NBA is because of that borderline scrappy/dirty play.

Great player.... plays hard. Not a bad guy as far as I can tell. Never punched anyone...no drugs/assaults/domestic issues? He is a little wild but if that's it. Shame on fans.

Yeah, I was there and did not hear any boos around Brooks. Would definitely be embarrassing for fans. I can absolutely see why NBA fans would hate him as a player, but he did great things at Oregon, always played hard, and I've never heard of any off the court issues. Yes, he definitely straddles the line on dirty plays, but people calling him a thug, fans booing him, is a huge overreach, and the guy absolutely does not deserve that.
