Washington's Defense is currently allowing the fewest yards per play of any team since 2011 Alabama.
That said, they've yet to play a top 25 offense.

Which, technically, the Ducks aren't. That is, unless you look at their stats only through the games JH has played in.GrantDuck wrote:Washington's Defense is currently allowing the fewest yards per play of any team since 2011 Alabama.

I sure want to believe that what the Duck OL did at the line of scrimmage to enable the 300+ rushing yards v. Utah without Herbert is going to reap huge dividends this game.

He said that with regards to open media period but his report really didn't try that hard to hide the fact that Herbert was moved up during the closed portion of practice.buckmarkduck wrote:Yesterday he tried saying Herbert was with the 3rd string, but then said the highlight of the day was a long TD to Breeland, who isn't 3rd string.Greenblood wrote:Moseley tweet at about 9:15 a.m. Wed.:
QB order for position drills in practice periods open to media:
Herbert
Burmeister
Alie
Burch
Irwin
Someone stop me from starting to feel good about Herbert starting at UW . . .

While possible, that's a pretty big assumption to make this early on. Yes, they are ranked 12th, but there's still so much time. They also play Stanford and Wazzu, which would be wins that would improve their stock. You would also be making the assumption that Washington's players have also resigned to the fact that there's no chance they'll make it from here. I highly doubt many college athletes would have already given up on any chance of making the playoff when they have 1 loss in a Power 5 conference.buckmarkduck wrote:Even winning every game from here on out, UW won't be in the playoffs.droop10 wrote:UW has a shot at getting in the playoffs, but Oregon has more to play for with that bowl eligibility, eh?jefflockie wrote:I bet on Oregon for this one +21. I like Oregons chances even on a moneyline bet. Oregon simply has more to play for here than Washington - a win here would be the highlight of the season.
I am well aware that the Pac-12 doesn't look very strong this year, but the committee has still shown that it values conference champions at the end. The Big 12 teams will beat each other up, so 2 of them will fall behind them. Wisconsin will also drop behind them once they have their first loss. Notre Dame could easily lose another game, including one to Stanford. I could go on, but the point is, it's far from a certainty that UW has no chance of getting in the playoff. Unlikely, sure, but if their players aren't motivated to play because they've already given up hope of getting there, they probably shouldn't be competing at this level.

Not to rain on your parade, but UCLA is 24th and only put up 16 points of offense on UW.GrantDuck wrote:Washington's Defense is currently allowing the fewest yards per play of any team since 2011 Alabama.

Yes he did, which game Mora a chance to prove what an idiot again this week. He went on a tirade about how dumb Brock Huard is and how he knows zero about football.Phenom wrote:Rosen left the game pretty early though didn't he?dphi wrote:Not to rain on your parade, but UCLA is 24th and only put up 16 points of offense on UW.GrantDuck wrote:Washington's Defense is currently allowing the fewest yards per play of any team since 2011 Alabama.

Didn't look like he was very effective in the half he did play, but they have tended to rally late so I guess it's fair to say it could have ended differently.Phenom wrote:Rosen left the game pretty early though didn't he?dphi wrote:Not to rain on your parade, but UCLA is 24th and only put up 16 points of offense on UW.GrantDuck wrote:Washington's Defense is currently allowing the fewest yards per play of any team since 2011 Alabama.

UCLA is 26th, for the record, in YPP on offense.

Going to be a serious uphill battle, in the rain, on a cold Saturday night. Vita Vea is an absolute monster. UCLA has a good OL and he was just blasting through double teams consistently.
That said, by this time next year I fully expect Oregon to be competitive and have a shot to win late with UW in Autzen. They will not be as good defensively and Oregon will be better on both sides and in year 2 under WT.
