Altman discusses recruiting class

Dana Altman held a press conference where he talked about the full recruiting class. As usual, he's humble and doesn't want to get too excited.

We can get excited for him! Plus isn't there one more coming in possible? Or do we save the spot for another grad transfer? Seems like on my rough attempt at a depth chart we'd want another established ball handler or big man with preference towards a big.

PG: Pritchard/Johnson
SG: Bailey/Richardson
SF: King/Kigab
PF: White/Norris/Smith
C: Bol/Wooten/Cage

You've left out Norris. That's seven 4-5s If I were to add to that roster it would be at guard.

Well count me in too. That's two votes, think that's enough to make him stay?

Seriously though; I'm telling you there's a chance {insert Dumb and Dumber gif here}. After Dorsey's first few games I thought he was one and done for sure, then conference play kind of clipped his wings a little.

As a fan it's a weird feeling watching guys like T. Brown. I find myself rooting for him to be good but not too good. The planets are aligning for 2018-19 if somehow he stayed, look out.

I like Norris A LOT.

As mentioned above Norris needs to be added here. Also above, it may be wishful thinking but there’s certainly a decent chance that Troy Brown stays an additional year.

Also, am I missing something obvious or who is Williams?

I might have it something like this:
Pritchard/Richardson
Brown/Bailey
King/Kigab
White/Norris/Smith
Bol/Wooten/Cage

Or maybe Wooten starting at the 4? There is a ton of depth there. Kind of ridiculous...

You could go so many different ways with it though... makes it hard to project when so many of our guys are versatile enough to play 3 positions.

Well said. Exactly what I am thinking ^^ Team can be scary good next year with him and the depth Ducks will have coming off the bench. Oh boy, final 4 again? :)

There's at least one open scholarship even after these signees and there'll likely be either a transfer or one-and-done so I could see them potentially adding 1-2 more players. Altman and his staff are always recruiting so they're not going to be caught off-guard or flat-footed.

Yeah - I’m with you. Most likely will end up having room for 2 more to add to next years team whether that’s due to Brown declaring or someone transferring after seeing all this young talent come in.

Seems like it’d be nice to potentially go the grad transfer route. Since next years team would only have one senior (White) and two Juniors (Pritchard/Smith).

The way that Altman handles roster change is extraordinary.

Crazy to think he was our 4th or 5th option.

Was it Tom Izzo who recommended Dan Altman to UO?

I could be wrong but I believe it was Lon Kruger. But Izzo may have mentioned him to Kilkenny as well.

You are right.

“But when Kilkenny tried and failed to pry Lon Kruger, then at UNLV, out of Las Vegas, he got an unsolicited suggestion and recommendation. Have you thought about Dana Altman? Altman had been Kruger’s protégé at Kansas State. They remained close — and had similar personalities and styles.”
