IMO more of a statment of USC mindset than Wazzou's abilities. USC again shows a lethargic attitude against a lesser opponent, and quite frankly a rather enemic offensive. Yeah they started fast, but were totally inconsistent for the remaining 3 quarters. I was not impressed by USC and still feel they are ripe for 3-4 losses this year.

Wazzou is coming into this game with a rebuilt offensive line only 2 starters from the beginning of the season and a retooled backfield (Freshman starter and back-up RB I believe). I expect the Defense to be able to control this game, and to get some important reps to non-starters.

Defensively, Wazzou is in better condition which will give the offense a test. It is important that the offense use this opportunity to hone the passing attack and build on the confidence gained against Cal. The offense showed its potential against the Bears, now it must demonstrate consistency.

Could be good opportunity for Masoli to learn to throw the ball in the rain.

There are no weeks off in the Pac-10 ... not even against WSU.

We don't need to pretend like this is a serious test, but we still need to take this game seriously. Hopefully we'll put it out of reach in the first half and get to rest our guys in the second.

How did WSU actually look against USC? I didn't watch the game but I keep hearing what a "moral victory" it was for them.

It should not be a serious test, but no team can take a USC attitude into a game like this. What I as a fan want to see is a demonstration that the offense has arrived.

One post game quote that struck me was a statement from a Cal defensive player who to paraphrase..."that they could pass surprised us"...
A Cal sports writer commented on that statement rather sharply that the Bears played like they were totally ignored preparation for any possible passing attack and their performance supported it. In reflection of the game, I kinda agree.

Basically I am looking to validation of a total offensive package from Oregon.

Tuel (the freshman QB) engineered a couple of nice drives together late in the game, and Cougars basically played well giving up only 1 TD over the last 3 quarters.

Wash. St game wishes;

A win.

No injuries.

Rappier like sharpness from the offense.

No turnovers allowing WSU to hang around.

Assuming all of these come true, most of the second half
devoted to 2nd string playing time.

True freshman QB making his first start, a night game at Autzen... pretty tall order if you ask me.

I hope Ducks will not overlook Washington State. If everything went well for Ducks in 1st half, im sure we will see 2nd team/3rd team in 2nd half.
