weird call on that final possession. that was one low percentage throw to sabally.
Boley needed the shot. Sabally was terrible shooting tonight. Can't have been by design.

Just like in the Oregon State game, the Ducks went through an offensively inept stretch in the second half that had nothing to do with the defense being played against them, but rather a complete inability to hit wide open shots. Boley was due to miss a couple since her shooting has been unconscious, but even she fell victim to missing a couple wide open looks in the corner during this stretch. Sabally couldn't throw it in the ocean. Chavez continues to miss the open looks presented to her. Oti somehow missed a wide open layup during this stretch. Maite had a good game overall, but still shot just 1-5 on threes. Sometimes it is as simple as just making shots, especially when you are the "best shooting team in the country" (if that label still applies).

It is a shame since the Ducks came out with the exact kind of effort (especially on the boards) that they needed in the first half. The Ducks need to work on their execution since they look lost at times without Ruthy being there to run the pick and roll, but the main thing is they simply need to start shooting the ball better.

Extremely weird. Not only that, it look like she was going for a layup, down 3!

It does seem like the men's team has infected the women's team's offense. Their rhythm and flow is so different! Not the same team.

There was plenty of time to go for a quick layup and play the foul game (or get a steal on the inbound) in order to get the ball back. I didn't have a problem with the concept of trying to get a quick layup, but that specific play call and the execution of it was a disaster.

And just like that they’re only one game ahead of OSH and Stanford. I wonder if the talks of them being the “best team in the country” went to their heads. Didn’t seem like they played with the purpose they were before.

this board loves to determine if teams are playing with effort or purpose or intensity after losses, but that sort of armchair analysis is almost never true. like i said after the loss in corvallis, this team is so good offensively because teams have to crash in on ruthy or she will eat them up. it’s impossible for teams to guard us because someone is always going to be open. take ruthy out and everything changes. we lost to a good team while trying to figure things out on the fly. it happens.

Exactly! They’ll be all right when Ruthy gets back but everything just got a lot tougher going forward. They’re going to have to prove how good they are now as our opponents now think we’re not so unbeatable.
