The name of Oregon offensive coordinator has turned up in two coaching searches and the carousel hasn't really started spinning yet. Arroyo and former UCLA coach Jim Mora are mentioned on this list of possibilities for the coaching vacancy at UNLV. (The Athletic)

Arroyo is mentioned in the New Mexico search as well. I read this as an indication Arroyo is actively trying to move out and up, and either he or his agent are letting people know how interested he is.

Hopefully U. New Mexico is his dream job.

I just hope we get a decent replacement. I won't exactly miss his coaching.

I think he’s better than most give him credit for.

I don’t like the shake up at the end of the season but I hope he moves on. Hope there is not too much distraction, but I know if he leaves, I hope we have a change, Mario will replace him with a upgrade.

Even if the Ducks were to get a new offensive coordinator, we don't know how much of a difference it would make since we don't know exactly how much control/input/influence Mario insists on having over the offense. If the position becomes open, and if Mario is smart (which he seems to be, but even smart people do stupid things), he will make the best offensive coordinator hire possible and stay out of their way completely.....much the same way he lets Avalos run the show on the defensive side. Mario simply needs to embrace being the CEO, since he excels at those aspects of the job, rather than meddling in areas that he is a Neanderthal in.

Oregon scoring offense by year (out of 130 FBS teams):

2016 - 27th (Helfrich)
2017 - 18th
2018 - 25th
2019 - 14th (after 11 games)

It makes sense that he's being looked at as a head coaching candidate. I thought he was light on experience when he was announced as OC, but the team has drastically improved since then. In regards to the issues that the offense has had this year--I really wonder how much of that is actually due to Arroyo--versus decisions coming from Cristobal.

Either way, the offense hasn't under performed and I expect it to only get better as long as Cristobal's recruiting success continues. If the staff can land three more classes with the same quality and quantity (staying at 85 scholarships players on the roster at the start of the year) there is every indication that this staff can put together a top 5 unit.

2019 - 14th (after 11 games)

This is a bit deceptive because we really fattened up on Nevada. Granted, lots of teams fatten up on weak nonconference schools, but 77 points was a little nuts. Adjust that to be a more realstic point total for one of those games -- say, take off 25 points -- and we're back down to around 25th, which is pretty much the same as where we've been over the past couple years.

We're 21st in total offense, 22nd on 3rd downs, and -- gasp -- 89th in redzone offense.

So, "14th" in scoring offense but 89th in redzone offense? That means we're leaving a ****ton of points on the field, and that's with an amazing QB playing behind a stellar offensive line.

That's on the coaching.

I agree, Mario should focus on his strengths (recruiting, O-line) and be the CEO. Hope Arroyo moves on although we don’t know if the disjointed play calling is on him or if Mario is indeed imposing on his philosophy.

For years Mike Bellotti tried to get Nick hired as a HC. He got lots of interviews, but was never hired. History repeating?
