Ducks can't add any more and it'll be ORU up 5-4 going to T7.

If Oregon loses this game, they can probably point to the 5th inning as where they missed out on at least one run.OregonFan4Life wrote:That was weird, not sure of some of the coaching decisions yesterday and today.greenyellow wrote:Oregon could easily have runners on 2B and 3B if they just executed basic baseball sense/plays.

Bad luck again as Grinsell walks his first batter and then goes 3-0 on the next before needing to come out due to injury.

ORU just outplaying Oregon in every facet with that double steal. And then a WP lets a run score and a throwing error by Cowley allows another. Wheels coming off at the worst time.

I like Wandowski but can’t figure out his decision making when it comes to relieving pitchers.
This is definitely a bummer it looks like, to win in postseason baseball you need great pitching, and Oregon has some of the worst pitching you’ll see in D1 baseball. I was hoping maybe they’d get a nice winning streak and maybe make a super regional, but once I saw they were hosting ORU I hoped they’d get to Omaha only to get crushed by the great teams in the CWS. This team reminds me of the football team, good offense, but just horrendous pitching, similar to the Oregon defense, that’s far from unreliable especially if the bats aren’t hot.
Jake Angler has some work to do this offseason, I know there were injuries but the pitching shouldn’t be this awful. If the pitching doesn’t improve next season Wandalowski needs to find a new pitching coach. The way this entire pitching staff loses control so quickly astounds me, I’ve never seen it before. Sucks for the team that the most important position is by far the weakest group and a huge liability.

And now Dallas gets hit by a liner up the middle that scores another run to make it 8-4 ORU. He gets a fly out to end the inning but Oregon has a lot of work to do.

Oregon with two and no outs finally in B7. Need to get at least one run here.

They've been having to rely on so many FR due to injuries so it's not all on the pitching coach. To even be in this position is amazing considering what they have to work with for most of the season.OregonFan4Life wrote:I like Wandowski but can’t figure out his decision making when it comes to relieving pitchers.

Ducks have to score here with the bases loaded and Ceballos up with one out.

Ceballos gets a run in with a sac fly. 8-5 ORU now.

Bases loaded again after Tanner Smith draws a walk. Gotta pay this off more.

Ducks can only get 1 run out of the inning and its 8-5 ORU going to T8.

I know injuries have derailed the season but I still don’t think a pitching staff at the D1 level should consistently lose control like this pitching staff has, even if there are quite a few freshmen. I was saying that if the pitching staff isn’t better, which they should be, unless crazy injuries happen again, then it may be a pitching coach problem. I feel for this team though.greenyellow wrote:They've been having to rely on so many FR due to injuries so it's not all on the pitching coach. Ducks down to their final inning still trailing 8-5. Not looking good.
