He has some connections to the Portland area, which is important for Altman to recruit

welcome michael!

should've played football though. had offers from all pac10 schools and was a beast at jeff. would have been a hell of a tight end at the D1 level.

Love this hire. He's a Portland guy, went to Jefferson & was a really good player in his time. He should definitely help us pull in those Portland kids in the future.

Considering his ties, I wonder how the possible closure of Jefferson High School in Portland will affect recruiting up there? Jefferson produces some really good talent and now it will possibly get dispersed among 4 different schools. Lee's ties may be cut off a bit with players being split between these schools.

Last I heard, Jefferson was safe. Benson and some others, however...

The Oregonian ran a story that said the Portland Public School district was going to have a hearing on 6/21 that could force Jefferson to close and send it's students to 1 of 4 neighboring schools (Benson among them).

Indeed, but I've heard Jefferson will be okay. The entire PIL is a mess.

School in the PIL have been run into the ground by the PPS and Jefferson has been a recipient of many missteps. If they would just let Jefferson run like a normal high school instead of like separate schools combined into one, more students would have stayed.
