Tight End Dante Rosario will be staying behind in Charlotte as the Panthers fly to Philadelphia tonight for the Thursday night match up with the Eagles. Rookie Running Back Jonathan Stewart however is itching to make his pro debut and sounds like the Panthers just might use him in the Thursday night game.

Rookie QB Dennis Dixon is now in a tough spot as he’s fighting with recently signed Byron Leftwich for the backup duties to current starter Ben Roethlisberger. The next few weeks will determine if the Steelers release Leftwich before the regular season and roll with Dixon as the backup until injured backup Charlie Batch heals. If the Steelers hold onto Leftwhich for the regular season they will be forced to pay him $645,000. They can’t place Dixon of the practice squad as he would have to pass waivers and some team would most likely pick him up.

Injury update on Haloti Ngata: it appears he has suffered a sprained right medial collateral ligament. No timetable for is return but he is making progress. He took part in practice today when he lined up for 7 on 7 drills during the morning practice. He is still working on getting used to the knee and its limitations but seems upbeat for his return.

Rumors are swirling that San Diego Defensive End Igor Olshanksy’s days in a Charger uni are numbered. The chargers have extended fellow DE Luis Castillo with a large contract going through the 2014 season. The Chargers are running into a slew of big name players on their current roster that will be free agents and are bigger names than Olshansky. It is expected Olshanksy will opt out of his contract after this year and leave.
