How far he has fallen. Slick Willie took the FAU job for less money than Marcus Arroyo earned at Oregon. I know he still gets paid by FSU but this has to be a blow to his giant sized ego. I also confess to being petty and vindictive. :lol:

Wednesday evening, Florida Atlantic announced that Taggart had been hired as its next head football coach. As of this posting, FAU has yet to release the financial particulars of Taggart’s deal with the university.

At least a portion of that info, though, has now been made public.

@ByBerkowitz
Willie Taggart contract with FAU is for 5 years at $750,000 basic pay annually, plus $25,000 annual retention payment, so $775,000 total, per document from school

8:22 AM - Dec 12, 2019

For perspective, the man Taggart is replacing, new Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, was paid $1.432 million in guaranteed compensation for 2019.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it matters how much FAU pays him. Anything he gets paid by FAU is removed the buyout that FSU owes him. So, in a way collecting a lower salary from FAU is an FU (not that they could have necessarily paid him more) to FSU as they have to continue to pay him more money from the buyout.

Yep, the FAU salary is basically just a bonus on top of his FSU payments. Slick is making out like a bandit.

Payments from FAU reduce the amount Florida State must pay. It is standard contract language, much like the requirement the terminated party must seek gainful employment.

Is it a reduction of 100%?

Salary is usually a dollar for dollar reduction. Not sure about bonuses, a retention bonus probably is included or the contract would be for a $25,000 salary with a $750,000 retention. A performance incentive likely is excluded as it would negate the purpose.

That's great news! I like Leach at WSU, he is good at making them competitive even through the talent WSU can attract.

More power to him. I doubt he scores the HC gig there when #WillieOneSeason hits the road, again.

Have a nice season, if you want to...
