I forget who it was who said it, but they said when you look at all of his moves in the lenses of maximizing profit they all make sense. He's not trying to build a championship team but one that is profitable. On that end, I'm not sure that he's going to sell that many Hayward jerseys for this to make sense. Seems like a year to tank again for next years draft for them.

They really just need a backup PG and PF at this point.

they got two spots left I think, one pg for sure and then maybe leave a spot open for a 2 for 1 trade. It will be interesting to see how Stotts plays everybody enough minutes to keep them all happy.

I’d assume Melo would get minutes as the backup PF.

These signings have been great. All they need now is a starting power forward, a back-up point guard, and someone who can start at the 5 for when Nurkic goes down again.

Someone asked him about the next podcast and he had a few replies about expecting tears on Monday. Later on he commented that something didn't go down as planned so I'm guessing this is now the Blazers team + Back-up PG.

RoCo, TBD, Collins.

I know you aren't a big fan of that, but barring a mid-season trade, I think this is where we're at with starting Hood and RoCo.

I hope CJ takes an early break so that he can lead more minutes on the 2nd unit. He and Kanter better work on their screen/roll game like Dame/Nurk and having DJJ cut through space with Gary and Zach/Melo outside is about their best offense.

If they can take away their fondness for giving up 70 in a half it should hopefully do wonders for them overall.

5- Nurkic, Kanter
4- Covington, Melo
3- Hood, Jones Jr
2- CJ, Trent Jr
1- Dame, Simons

That seems like a solid 2nd round and out team, imo.

Blazers sign Harry Giles for vet minimum. He had originally been drafted by the Blazers but was traded as part of the deal that brought Zach Collins to Portland. He'll essentially be called upon for the same role Wenyen Gabriel and Skal Labissiere had as the 3rd PF/C.

By and large, this is an aging version of what we have already seen the last several years. The plan includes a ridiculous amount of optimism that guys like Hood and Nurkic can come back from injury and be starters all season for a playoff team. They are also not admitting to themselves that Collins and Simons (and probably Little) are little better than busts. Unless Derrick Jones Jr or Giles starts playing out of their minds in a new setting, which I assume is what Olshey is hoping by taking those stabs in the dark, I expect this team to struggle to make the playoffs and be out by the end of the first round, if not sooner.
