Once Horace Grant is cut, I'll sign him.

I don't really get what the Pacers are doing.
Patience is not a bad thing.

At the same time... Hate these trades that give away good players for almost nothing.

And Grant should go to waivers.

Pretty good value for Pacers for not giving up much. But protection removal could be really nice for Grizz. I like their gamble.

I could be wrong, but I think Pacers don't have their pick(s) the next 2-3 years now after their moves up to 1 and 2 so they are somewhat forced to try and compete in the mean time.

Like it for Grizzlies to squeeze some value out. Pacers don't have their picks so they have no incentive to tank, but I also don't think shooting more assets just to be a middle playoff team is a good odea

This is my point. Throwing away more assets further down the road doesn't get your picks back.
I've never understood this thing that I don't have my pick so I have to do everything I can to keep my trading partner, who I wanted so bad to get the #2 pick from, now from getting a good pick. There is such a thing as a win-win trade.

1 year rental for Magic doesnt present good value for removing the protection of the '99 pick for the Pacers as he is very unlikely to be on the team then

This does make the Pacers better now but still need more pieces to build around

The team involved in a trade cant sign a cut player directly after said trade. Need to wait 48 hours per rule:

4) Players cannot be cut and resigned in the trade process. Any player cut in a trade will be placed on waivers. After 48 hours anyone can sign him.
