Clippers/Heat Blockbuster

Post by pistolpetejr »

Clippers send:

Piatkowski
O'Neal
Schintzius
Ferry
Spencer
99 pick swap (Heat get to choose whether to keep 1st or swap 1st with Clippers that draft)

Heat send:

KG
Pippen
Sellers

Deal. I know I'm sending a lot, but I want a very clean slate and KG is the new young centerpiece of the LA Clippers.

I Agree. Can't believe I'm dealing KG but I believe this better rounds out our team, while keeping the window open long-term. I see why pistolpete came with so much fanfare

If KG continues in current trajectory then big win for clips.

Wow -- I think Heat got rocked on this trade

EDIT: Piatowski is really good, but I think with Penny at SG because of his turnovers and Quinnett that this doesn't move the needle that much, plus Pippen is significantly better IMO than Schintzius and saves cap issues next year. Would've thought the deal was ok if Pippen wasn't included funnily enough since he was a bad contract for like the first 4/6 years

Wow. I wouldn’t mind as much if Heat were keeping Pippen. But trading Pippen and KG for anything that isn’t a top 5 player feels meh. But not terrible for Heat, just really nice for Clippers.

I like it for both

Heat are good enough to be champion contenders for sure, and this makes them a lot better while still getting youth back in return with Piatkowski being a 3rd-year and O'Neal a rookie. Pick swap looks good at the moment, but ofc ya never know. Worst case it's nothing.

For Clippers, premium young prospect for a package. Almost always love those. Also lets him tank properly.

If you're thinking about moving KG to win now you really should put up a trade block. Somebody would have offered better. Heat are unquestionably better in the short term but KG has a lot more value than this.

Interesting trade. I would have thought Grant Hill would have been the one to be traded. I don't think 3 guard lineups have really worked.

Clippers will be over the hard cap by 2.5 mil in the current deal. If Clips add Spencer then salaries will work and both teams will be under hard cap, barely

Honestly on the fence with this one. Like TK said KG and Pippen for no less than a top player. Would of easily given that for Gill.

But again the pick swap is the game changer. Clippers have two seasons to rebuild now

Edit: you gotta look at the way teams are built. Very tough league. Suns and Nuggets in the west. East with Pacers, Heat and Bucks. Heck even a team like Hawks or Warriors could win a ring with their squad and moves this season. Younger teams haven’t simmed well. Look at me, my guys are in their late 20’s now
