As far as USC goes... I hate them too and have often said when the two play each other I wish for a 0-0 tie. That can no longer happen in college football because of overtime rules. So I often have to decide who winning would benefit Oregon the most. USC has the University of Spoiled Children abbreviation for a reason. Nothing but a bunch of rich alumni that think their school is always entitled. The hatred for them is far different than that of Washington.

I hate USC for their arrogance and entitlement and not to mention even though not been in playoff berth and Oregon being in two of them that kids will flip from Oregon to USC. We continue to see kids do that. Yes they have the beaches and some pretty women, but in terms of being relevant to national championship, it has been over a decade since they have been relevant. Their coach, is a decent coach and is always coaching as if it is his last game because of the self entitled alumni that USC has. I would, if was a coach take the Oregon job over USC any day of the week. Not because of the biases I have, but because at Oregon you really only have to make Phil Knight happy.

Since 2010 Oregon has won more games than any other team in the Pac 10/12 this includes USC. USC meanwhile has had more 5 star commits than Oregon in that same span of time. If the idea is to play and compete for a national championship then I would think kids would be looking at fact Oregon has played twice since 2010 for the national championship. That is more than anyone else in the Pac 10/12 as well. I don't understand I guess why recent history is not viewed as favorably for Oregon with these kids that flip to USC. At the end of the day if they want to play for a team that has not been relevant to a championship or playing in one in recent history, then go ahead and go play for them. Good luck on your coach being there in 3 or 4 years.

When I first read this thread, I thought it sounded like propaganda from a Husky infiltrator. Then I figured you were just young and didn't remember when the Huskies won 17 out of 20 and how arrogant they were during those years. If you've only been following since 2005, then of course you don't understand the rivalry, and how much The Pick changed everything. You've never lived through years of hoping your team was good enough just not to get blown out by the Huskies and have to listen to 'Bow Down to Washington' over and over from purple-clad jackwagons. It wasn't just Duck fans either. I was at the Beaver game vs, Stanford in '94 the day Kenny Wheaton intercepted that ball. When the score was announced, everyone cheered. Husky loathing was a statewide thing, at least back then.

I'm not here to tell you who to hate, but just understand that the animosity for all things Husky by Duck fans is WELL deserved. I don't in any way devote my life to Husky hate, but I do hope I live long enough to see that all-time head-to-head record swing toward the Ducks, a thing that was inconceivable in my youth. A few decades ago, when the Ducks started getting good, Husky fans used to say 'Win a Rose Bowl, then pop off'. Well, three Rose Bowls later, they have had to find other arguments to make themselves feel better. If Oregon wins a national championship and evens that head-to-head record, what will they have left? Ancient history and apocryphal championships. It's fine to dislike the arrogance of Ohio State or SEC schools, but is there anything more annoying and pathetic than fans full of hubris for stuff that happened over a generation ago, especially with a completely winless season and a 12-game losing streak to the Ducks so fresh in our memories?

Yah even one person I know who is a Beaver fan and hates the Ducks says he roots for the Ducks against the Huskies. Yah I agree , I probably can’t comprehend the scope of the rivalry cause I wasn’t even born during the time what makes fans like you hate the Huskies and if I was and grew up in that time I would hate the Huskies just like I hated the Lakers in 2017 even when younger fans would ask me why I hate such a terrible team .

For me though I have always hated the Trojans cause while like you mention Husky fans may be worse , I find USC as a whole to be far worse due to the entitled culture they seem to have and the fact their glory days during the 2000s was far more recent and I saw the latter end of it and it was annoying as it could be to hear bandwagon Trojan fans in my school during that time . UW also used to beat us when we were terrible , while USC beat us when we were good and rising in the Bellotti years and even arguably ruined our title hopes in 2011 (though I think BCS would still chose Bama over us like they to do Oklahoma St). I have basically viewed UW as the annoying younger cousin while I have viewed USC as the enemy .

I do understand now though why fans from your generation hate UW more than any other team and I am sure if I grew up then at least they would be in my 3 most hated teams list

Dave "Softy" Mahler is a more accurate representation of the general Husky attitude toward the Ducks, rather than a room full of "casual fans" that started watching college football a few years ago.

I wonder how many women said that before the nickname stuck for good?
One reason I haven’t seen mentioned here on this thread: the number of truly cheap shots their defense laid on our QB’s and kickers way back when.

I remember when one of their thugs took out Chris Miller in Seattle I believe. Refs didn't have the balls to call it. First in a long line of concussions that eventually ended his career.

Dude, what in the hell are you talking about? It is like you are living in some alternate universe from the rest of us.

the USC fans I have seen are far far worse than the UW fans I have seen, all of them talk non stop about their glory days in the 2000s without mentioning how they got there by basically flagrantly violating NCAA rules, SoCal media acts like they are entitled to players from SoCal and treat the Ducks terribly in every way possible.

Leaving aside fans , the fact is the USC team of the 2000s were far far more detestable than any team UW has had in the 2000s or 2010s as well and even the early 2010s USC team was extremely detestable as well.

Sigh. Gen Z kids.

In fairness, I'd probably qualify as "middle aged" and when I left school, I didn't think we had much of a rivalry with washington. Why? Because we spanked them every year and they were terrible. How could that be a rivalry?

Then I moved to Seattle for 3 years. A guy I worked with said the best an Oregon grad could do is be his flight attendant. A guy pushed me while I was pissing in a urinal at a bar in Fremont because I had an Oregon shirt on. At a game at uw, a group of 40+ yr old guys refused to move from our co-ed group's seats and wanted to fight us for having security handle it. And then there's just the incessant whineyness, self-unaware elitism (newsflash: your school is just ok and your football team is trash), and general dumbassery that I think only Michigan fans can really compete with. I wouldn't be sad in the least bit if they disbanded the program. I'm content with the friendly rivalry that exists between us and OSU.

This is a hilarious video I just come across :

Lol Hope Solo literally made a prediction that the Huskies would win because of the fact that they grew up eating apple pie . Literally the worst reasoning I have ever season in making football predictions and it wasnt even a funny joke as apple pie is more of a thing during the Washington-Washington St game lol.

It's interesting: we lost to Wazzu four years in a row, and the all-time record is pretty close (Ducks lead 50-42-7). But still, I have never sensed the animosity with the Cougars. I'm sure they enjoyed that winning streak, but they didn't make donkeys out of themselves all over the place like Husky fans would have. The sense of entitlement coming out of King County is really amazing. I've had opportunity to witness it in more than just sports. I suspect it is something to do with being a large city in an otherwise remote region of the country.

Go to a game in Pullman and you may be singing a different tune. Been there a couple of times, they’re an odd low class fan base, but they HATE Oregon and don’t treat Oregon fans kindly.

This is why my hatred of teams is more based on the team(and the media coverage of the team) itself rather than the fan base as you will find low class fans among every fan base.

The media coverage of great SEC teams is extremely extremely nauseating in every possible way possible which is why I would easily just easily root for UW and even gulp USC over the $EC any day so this myth of how incredibly better the SEC is than everyone else just shatters for good . It’s based on the fact that the BCS was extremely biased against the PAC-12 so Florida never player USC and Alabama never played Oregon

Post subject:  Re: Should the Huskies really be our most hated team

The media is biased and some of them were wanting Alabama to play Oregon and the blur offense. Oregon did not take care of business and lost a game. This goes for all the Pac 12. If you want to be in the playoffs then take care of business and don't lose. That way the committee has no choice and the team plays the game and settles it on the field. Lose a game and lose chance of being in playoffs.

Not discounting the WSU hate. But I think that a huge part of the noise coming from U DUmB is insecurity. From the start it went their way, BOW DOWN carried the day. But then it started to turn; James leaves, Lambright, Tyrone Willingham, 0-12 season, 12-0 Ducks run, 3 straight classes that didn't beat Oregon! 20-10 Oregon in the last 30 games.
They thought that 70-21 would take care of it, then they handled the Ducks again, and everything was alright again. But, no, 2 in a row for Oregon, and back in Autzen next season. All their fan base has is self righteous barking. It's gotta be ruff, ruff to be a Husky
