Donte Williams to USC
Being pursued hard by U$C. Doesn't make sense to hop aboard a sinking ship but stranger things have happened. I see ScoopDuck has a thread on an assistant coach as does Duck Territory. Anybody know anything?

Agreed. Doesn’t make sense unless he’s getting some kind of promotion, like passing game coordinator (with actual responsibilities, not just a title). Still, it would be questionable to take a position when the likelihood of everyone getting canned after this season is pretty high. Hopefully this is just leverage for a raise.

Coaches are going to get poached, it’s part of the game. I would hate to see him leave and especially for a usc gig, that show has been a cluster for many years, but........... money talks

Scott Schrader is saying it’s a done deal. He’s an awful alcoholic who’s often wrong so take it with a grain of salt. But he’s also really plugged in to the USC program.
This would suck for us, but if the choice is losing Dante or Keith Heyward it’s a no brainer for me.

I suppose it is a good move for him if he thinks he can be head coach there in a couple years. It is a head scratcher otherwise.

Re: Donte Williams rumor
Strange move since Helton is on the hot seat and that team is going to be carried by their offense next year. Rumors are that Williams' father is in hospice care and he wants to get closer to him. Also, doesn't hurt that they're giving him a title and salary increase. Main area it hurts Oregon is in recruiting since Williams is one of the strongest recruits the Ducks have.

Well, farts. Hopefully we can land a solid replacement.

Re: Donte Williams to USC
Williams has written a goodbye note to the program and confirms that it was his father's failing health that is leading him back home to LA.

Grateful for the amazing staff and culture and heading into the literal opposite of that. Interesting choice.greenyellow wrote:Williams has written a goodbye note to the program and confirms that it was his father's failing health that is leading him back home to LA.

Good for him for making sure to be with his father while he still can. Sucks to lose him but I've got a ton of faith Mario's hiring.
