Hearing lots of candidates but no specific names. As indicated, a tight lid is being kept on the search.

Seems strange that we haven't heard any names yet. Typically after a week to ten days, a list of candidates has leaked. We're at nearly 3 weeks now and absolutely nothing.

jhop has had some names

Basically, Cristobal tried for the home run options at first but struck out on them. Now he is sourcing the next tier for the right guy. Marcel Yates is a top candidate but he runs the whole secondary at Cal and doesn't want to be limited to just the S position.

Most likely, we will see a lower level guy come in and take the job after more vetting is done.

I hope he doesn't poach another guy from Cal.

Yates would be a good choice in all honesty.

When I read this, I got Yates and Yost (our former WR coach) mixed up. I was thinking, “Could blondie really coach safeties?”

There has been lots going on with this. MC plays this stuff very close to the vest and does not like to divulge any info but there is activity. There have been interviews and some people actually on campus. Concensus has been that this does not need to be done quickly.

Speaking of Yost, he's out at Texas Tech and if he doesn't land another gig, I think they should try to get him to come spend a year as an 'offensive analyst.' Guy was a Broyles Award semifinalist and is in the top couple of tiers for knowledge of Xs and Os.

He's not a bad hire. One thing he's known for is recruiting so that helps take care of what they lost with Heyward.
