You'd think that Nike vs Under Armour game would have happened already.DuckzRule wrote:UPDATE: Some rumors are saying the Alliance will be announced today, but I still don't have a clue of what it could be about, but hopefully it involves scheduling so we could play more ACC members.
Fun fact: Oregon has played every member of the Big 10 except Maryland and Rutgers.

Re: Continued Conference Realignment
Another update: The three commissioners will be making a press conference at 2pm ET, which will probably reveal details about the alliance.

This tweet indicates that it will also include non-conference scheduling, which makes me hopeful any ACC team not named Virginia travels to Eugene.

They say they will focus on various things, including scheduling.
The problem is: Oregon ducked up their schedules by adding some dumb Big 12 teams across the 2020's.
So we need to wait until 2031 to see how this scheduling thing goes.

It's not Oregon's fault that they added them back when they did since it's not like they knew the SEC and OU/UT were cooking something up behind closed doors that'd shake up the CFB landscape.DuckzRule wrote:They say they will focus on various things, including scheduling.

Plus, Texas Tech, OK State, and Baylor are fun matchups.greenyellow wrote:It's not Oregon's fault that they added them back when they did since it's not like they knew the SEC and OU/UT were cooking something up behind closed doors that'd shake up the CFB landscape.DuckzRule wrote:They say they will focus on various things, including scheduling.

Oklahoma State seems good enough and adding a first-time opponent (Baylor) seems pretty cool, and Texas Tech will be historical because of Tyler Shough being involved with both teams, even tho he will be in the NFL in 2023.

Rob Mullens had this to say about the alliance.

One media report said one of the reasons for the alliance was so the three conferences could go into playoff negotiations United. Any truth to this?

Re: Continued Conference Realignment
Personally, I’m m quite underwhelmed with this alliance. The fact that they held a presser with nothing to announce concerns me. Everyone knew they were working on an alliance, so the assumption was that the presser was to announce details of the actual agreement. If you’re not at an agreement, you keep negotiating. Having a presser to announce that you have a gentleman’s agreement tells me that they are far apart on some major elements and they don’t see a resolution in the short term.

I believe it was the key. The 12 team proposal was heavily crafted by SEC leadership with very little input by the alliance.Alan wrote:One media report said one of the reasons for the alliance was so the three conferences could go into playoff negotiations United. Any truth to this?

It was basically being crafted by the SEC, ESPN and the Big-12 all while OU/UT were in discussions about joining the SEC.UofDuck wrote:I believe it was the key.
