Kliavkoff said there’s been talks of going down to 8 conference games and guaranteeing 2 games against the other conferences - a home and away. I guess that would leave two open games to schedule as you will. It would be nice to shut out the SEC but considering the cross conference rivalries in the ACC that seems unlikely.

If that is the case then good news for the Pac-12. Having a guaranteed P-5(4?) home game is good. Pac-12 schedule reduced so every other year you miss a P-5 home game and one fewer cross division game kind of balances that out. It will be interesting.

I like the idea of a H/A game every year, especially as someone who likes to travel for games. It would be a great reason for my buddies and I to go to some of the lesser-traveled college towns in the Midwest and East.

I do think an "alliance" needs to be more than 2 games, though. As mentioned, there are still going to be games against the SEC in this scenario, so I don't know if the bond will be all that evident.
