Re: Oregon 2021 Fall Camp
Since we're talking cornerbacks, I went and rewatched the condensed spring game (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfgNQ7w6CcE) to see how Manning, Bridges, and the other cornerbacks fared. Bridges didn't participate, so I don't have anything on him. Manning was... fine. Most plays, he did alright shadowing his man, but did show a propensity for losing track of his guy. On the positive, he had a pick in the game, however, that ball was thrown by a wide receiver on an end-around. If I'm projecting for this season, I'd say he's a very marked drop-off from DJ James and will give up some touchdowns, but is serviceable. As I said, Bridges didn't participate, but Jaylin Davies got a lot of run, starting opposite Manning. Davies needs time to get better. Davies got consistently roasted, whether it was against 1s, 2s, or 3s, so the thought of him covering Olave or other tOSU receivers gives me a cold, cold shiver.
The Ducks will be fine without Hill, but James is a major piece in this defense. With nothing to judge Trikweze off of, I'll hope for the best, but the secondary could really use DJ back in the lineup sooner rather than later.

CB scares me the most with James out. Any other position on the team, and I would be less nervous, even QB.

Hopefully we can put enough pressure on the QB that they can't take advantage of the CB's.buckmarkduck wrote:CB scares me the most with James out. Any other position on the team, and I would be less nervous, even QB.

It's interesting that Noah is pretty much universally the answer when players are asked who the leader is in the LB group. Except when Justin Flowe was asked, he is the only one with a different answer. I wonder how he is coping with not being the man yet.

CJ UO to 211lbs now? Hopefully that helps with his durability. Dude is going to be like a bowling ball this year.
Updated weights.

Trey Benson was asked what differentiates him from the other backs, and he said he's "one of the strongest running backs... well, me or CJ."
Not a day goes by that I don't wonder how good CJ wouldn't been under Campbell.

Good news is there are lots of solid RB coaches. I’m just not sold on Mastro. CJ has all the talent, but he still has a hard time reading his blocks and hitting the hole. That seems like coaching after 4 years.
