WR Traeshon Holden arrested and dismissed from team

Oregon has dismissed transfer WR Traeshon Holden after he was arrested early this morning on charges of menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, and coercion. Looks like they're going to have to find another starter on the outside now.

Yikes, better now than later for us. And frankly, we are pretty set at slot with Hutson anyway, so not a huge loss.

Menacing and coercion with weapon is bad. Hopefully bad decisions like this wake him up.

I could see them trying Tez Johnson out there as well with Dickey, Kasper, Lowe, and Cozart. I also wouldn't be surprised if they went to the transfer portal for more depth after the spring.

Maybe it's me, but I don't see a need to fill this spot. Franklin, Hutson, Tez Johnson + Kasper, Dickey, Delgado and others seems like plenty of top end talent and depth.

So this is actually a big loss in that regard. Hutson and Tez are slot guys. Franklin the X, and Holden was going to be the Y.

Probably means we rely almost solely on Dickey now.

Maybe it's me, but I don't see a need to fill this spot. Franklin, Hutson, Tez Johnson + Kasper, Dickey, Delgado and others seems like plenty of top end talent and depth.

With how injuries always occur with WRs, those 6 plus Lowe and Cozart is really thin. Not to mention only having 3 scholarship TEs.

I don't know STU. I've heard the rules are made pretty clear upfront with these guys and there's not a lot of leash given.

There's clear standards and theres no ambiguity. Also safe to say it was likely reviewed by university legal counsel before the final decision was made.

Guessing Dan got that dreaded middle of the night call and huddled with AD staff and the decision was made.

Yea, we don't have much history with Lanning to compare to. In the context of Belotti/Chip/Helf/Taggart/Cristobal, I'd say this was fairly quick reaction.

Clarification- no one official is confirming this. The word used was 'cleared' , not charges were dropped.

Wasn't Holden's big value was speed and blocking? The guys mention as replacements are not big bodies (other than the freshman) who seem willing and capable to block like Holden.

Better now than later, but what a shame.
