Would love to bring Cota back in, he was the awkward class that slipped through during the coaching change from Half to Taggart and slipped through the cracks.
Bring our boy home.

He's sort of just a body. He can produce if the scheme gets him open, but he doesn't really get open on his own. We're thin at the position and it's just a year, so I'm good with it, but there are probably also better players out there.

I think he could be a Jeff Mahle comparable. I’ve seen him have some productive games.

Cota has two years of eligibility remaining if he wanted to use them. Hutson is the only (expected) WR with over 400 career yards, Cota has almost 900. He’s not the most exciting pick-up but he’s solid, can block, and get open. There will be better transfers available, but we’d be fools not to take him.

That's honestly an insult to Jeff Maehl, who is one of the best Duck WRs in the last 20 years.

"Fools" feels like a strong take. Would you not rather have Brenden Rice?

So Oregon basically traded Pittman and Benson for OC Dillingham.

That depends on how sure one would be that Rice is legit - I think he is, but you’re getting a guy with three years of eligibility versus one with two and the second is optional. Rice was on a team devoid of talent, while Cota played with some other good WRs, TEs, RBs. Cota would have put up the same numbers at Colorado is what I’m saying.

Cota also comes with the added benefit of being a legacy, and if he’s not an impact player he’s here for two years max. We both know that recruiting WRs is a lot easier than most positions on the west coast. Rice seems like a USC guy, he’d get the attention and stats he wants there. Cota has shown himself to be an unselfish blocker in Chip’s scheme, looking at UCLA games I’d see number 23 making those blocks that few WRs can and it’s such an important part of the game that rarely gets the attention it deserves.

I'm noticing that the guys leaving are all ending up at big time programs, which speaks to the talent we brought in under Mario.

Anyone with a good count of scholarships right now?

Oregon is at like 81-82 projected scholarships if you include their unsigned commits of Williams, Halton, and Rogers.
