I would imagine one of our QB’s will enter the transfer portal after this year or near the start of next year, leaving three including tanner bailey (who really doesn’t move the needle for me). If there is a good QB in the portal who wants to come, you take him.

Bailey gets a ton of hate. I have a feeling Tanner is going to be the QBs version of Dye.

Anyone think Oregon will have any interest in Dillon Gabriel?

No coaches are following him on Twitter, which is usually a sign of making contact, but we'll see. Do you, or does anybody, know if he has 2 years of eligibility or just one? I think he might have two because of the covid year.stlDUCKfan wrote:Anyone think Oregon will have any interest in Dillon Gabriel?

Something of note is that his sister apparently plays volleyball at Texas. Not sure if it helps them or not, but they also have a need at QB.StevensTechU wrote:No coaches are following him on Twitter, which is usually a sign of making contact, but we'll see. Texas needs a QB? I have a hard time seeing that. They're in a position where they have to pick between Thompson and Card this off-season.
Today and tomorrow are gonna be big days for the coaching carousel and transfer portal.

Does Gabriel like to run? The stats would suggest he isn't what the coaches want.

Today is like the Christmas morning of the year for the transfer portal.

Anyone think there is any shot we go after Zach Evan’s?

Re: Transfer Portal - '21-22
Mario and staff need to cut some of their current commits if they're going to have any room for transfers. It's too bad, because there are a lot of really good, talented, experienced players entering the portal that could help with a 2022 run. If we just get a QB, I'll be happy.HomeSickDuck wrote:Anyone think there is any shot we go after Zach Evan’s?

Re: Transfer Portal - '21-22
Can someone explain to me Oregon fans' apprehension around transfer QBs? There seems to be a belief that HS recruits > Transfer QBs, even though that is plainly false (Vernon Adams, Jake Haener, Jalen Hurts, Justin Fields, etc.), and it obviously just comes down to the specific player.
Is it that some Duck fans think that in order to have a unblemished record, you needed to have a 5-loss season two years before?

Sooner or later, Oregon has to trust its own QB recruits to play, otherwise top QB recruits are going to be apprehensive about what they do with the position.

Re: Transfer Portal - '21-22
Based on seeing Oklahoma do it 3x, Ohio State and Michigan do it, I have to say this is a false narrative. Also, remember when there was a narrative that Oregon couldn't recruit QBs because they kept getting guys like Mariota who were entrenched as starters so high school recruits wouldn't want to come?greenyellow wrote:Sooner or later, Oregon has to trust its own QB recruits to play, otherwise top QB recruits are going to be apprehensive about what they do with the position.
So again, why are we so apprehensive about taking the best talent available when that talent is in the transfer portal?
