Re: Next Duck Coach
I think you go hard after the two Big-12 coaches. Aranda as well as Campbell. Aranda is from LA, so maybe a little less risky. However, he pulled his name out of the running for the USC job, so I have a hard time seeing him actually accepting the Oregon job. Which brings us to Campbell.
The risk with Campbell is he might not stay and screw us again. However, there is an argument that he might be one of the best option. He is competing against good teams with average to below average college players. He has several recruiting classes without even one 4* recruit. Their best recruiting class over the past 5 years was 46th, but typically they are in the 50-60 range. However, he looks to be turning the corner with recruiting, as their 2022 class is in the Top-25 right now with some solid 4* guys.
He can flat out coach. And his worst loss in the last 2 years is to 6-6 WVU. He could probably take our current roster and have them playing very well next season and maybe there is limited drop off.

I have in in my top 5 group of guys to consider but you're not selling him to many people using those recruiting statsnorthbeachsf wrote:I think you go hard after the two Big-12 coaches. Re: Next Duck Coach
My list so far is:
Top choice:
Aranda
Tier 2:
Joe Kelly
Peterson
Sitake
Tier 3:
Campbell
Kellen Moore
I'm not into some BS hire like Taggart was from a school like USF. Someone with experience with the NFL and/or big boy CFB.

Sounds like Sitake interviewed but it didn’t go well.

I don't want him as permanent HC, he should only be interimnorthbeachsf wrote:Players are starting to back McClendon on social media.

That’s dangerous territory for an AD. The worst evaluators of a quality coaches in any sport are the players. Sometimes they’re right but usually they’re wrong.northbeachsf wrote:Players are starting to back McClendon on social media.

Mike Norvell from FSU should be a candidate, knows the Pac 12 and a good recruiter

Sounds like Sitake didn’t impress. According to jhop
I would add UGA DC Lanning to the list
And I think we have a better shot at the Lane train then people want to admit.
