This is such a huge land for Lanning! This is equivalent to getting a high 5 star recruit, maybe even better. Nobody is utilizing the transfer portal better than Lanning this year, it’s clear he understands the modern ways of college football and how to adjust to it.
As Dan says, adapt or be left behind. Dan ain't waiting, he's more than adapting.

Coach is going to be like a kid in a candy store once practices start. With whom the Ducks have coming back, and all of the transfers/freshman coming in? Never seen such a massive wave of quality D-linemen come in, in one cycle. Unprecedented.

Depth is unparalleled. DeForest, Armstead, and Balducci as multi-year starters and two NFL stars in the same class will stay hard to beat as far as top productivity to the man. TJ Daniel, Stetzon Bair and Cody Carriger didn't do a heck of a lot but were also in that class.

I was trying to think back...if Haloti Ngata hadn't been hurt in 2003, he would have been on the same line as Igor Olshansky and Junior Siavii. That would have been something. They were pretty good that year, even without him.

Gary Bryant just hit the portal, and it sounds like UO is a real possibility

Why do we think UO? He's a receiver right?

Edit: quote from Dad-

Right now, it’s not just coaches we’re hearing from, it’s even quarterbacks and players on the teams reaching out that we know,” Bryant said. “We’ve heard from Arizona, North Carolina, Washington, UCLA, Cincinnati, Utah, Penn State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, Michigan, Virginia, Texas, Kentucky, BYU, Colorado and a lot more.

Would he be a big enough upgrade to deal with the headache of finding room for him?

It will be announced at Autzen press conference tomorrow afternoon!

Idk, that’s a great question. I’d imagine Hutson would leave if we get him.

Do you think he would be an upgrade over Hutson? I like Hutson better.

I personally would rather have Hutson.

Hutson may not be perfect, but unless it's for a serious upgrade, I'd rather see him stay and work his butt off.
Autzen Stadium... Where great teams go to die...Hard!

What else do we need in the portal, another linebacker and corner?

Not sure if the Ducks would be interested but he committed to UGA when Lanning was DC. Plus, he has been to Eugene back when Cristobal and Coach Donte were still on staff in 2019.

Given Oregon’s lack of depth in the secondary he’d be a good fit. I think he was 3rd string at Georgia and didn’t play much, just too crowded at Georgia. No doubt he’d have a much bigger role at Oregon. Every fanbase seems to think they’ll get him though.
