Cavanaugh, Michalowski hired as analysts

Post by greenyellow »

Oregon has announced the hiring of Mike Cavanaugh and Brian Michalowski as new analysts for the program. Cavanaugh will assist with OL while Michalowski (who was at Memphis and UGA with Lanning but has been at CU and OSU the past couple seasons) will be assisting with the ILBs.

So if you average the coaching experience between the new OL coach and his new assistant Mike Cavanaugh you have over 15 years each. Also if I remember right from his years at OSU Cavanaugh is in the College Football Cussing and Shouting Hall of Fame. Probably a good hire, Cavanaugh molded some pretty low ranked recruits into good linemen.

Is Michalowski not an on field coach? He is filling the opening created when Jake Long left for Alabama correct?

Long was just an analyst but the line has blurred so much in recent years and the only real difference is that they have no recruiting responsibilities.
