Local basketball journalism generally sucks and has gotten worse with some departures at local newspapers which have not been replaced.
Should get some tidbits out soon though. If nothing else, from a couple of the national guys that talk to Altman.

Yeah. There is essentially nothing out there for hoops. It’s crazy.
With the drop off from local papers and from The Athletic, there is just not any news and the first game is in three weeks

If you're including oregonlive as local, I must disagree. With Nemec and Crepea there is always considerable coverage and analysis of Oregon men's and women's basketball. My God, it's 3 weeks away, please.

Agree that there is decent coverage during the season locally. However, there was a practice / scrimmage this week that was open to the public. There is huge upside for this team with a possible final four run and a bunch of newcomers and not a single word about the scrimmage anywhere. That's crazy.
Who performed well in the open practice / scrimmage?
Which newcomers are positioning for playing time?
Is our roster so deep that Eric Williams is coming off the bench, as suggested by Rothstein? If so, that is nuts.
Very excited for the first game.

This open scrimmage and lack of coverage surprised me. There was no article on Goducks before or after. Though I don't have a subscription to the Register Guard a google search didnt show a mention. Was it an impromptu open instead of a planned event like a kickoff scrimmage media event?

The Oregon Mens Basketball account on twitter posted three pictures from the open practice / scrimmage, but no summary or other details.
BTW...Franck looks HUGE!

Looking at the pictures, that is not an open scrimmage crowd. Very few if any students. Looked more like athletic department personnel and maybe a few VIP guests.northbeachsf wrote:The Oregon Mens Basketball account on twitter posted three pictures from the open practice / scrimmage, but no summary or other details.

Per a couple of reports, Big Franck has gotten bigger and much more skilled. Fair chance he starts over Dante.
Will be really great practice though with all the bigs we have.

It was open. My buddy that lives in Eugene was going to walk over to it, but got tied up on some work stuff.

I thought Dante improved a bunch between his first short season to his second even shorter season. If he improved more, as one would suspect and Big Frank is close to his equal, the post position will be a real strength.

Great sign that Guerrier appears to be doing well from the 3 point line.
