Oregon will be a bit short-handed tonight.

Hasn't been the best start against a bad team like ASU but at least Oregon was able to get a lead entering halftime. Once again, Oregon really needs to get Richardson going.

Game is headed to OT as ASU hits a three off an offensive rebound with 5 seconds left to tie the game.

Oregon drops a heartbreaker in overtime to lowly ASU 69-67. Ducks really can't be dropping games like this.

I've already accepted that this won't be a year that Dana suddenly turns things around.greenyellow wrote:Oregon drops a heartbreaker in overtime to lowly ASU 69-67. Ducks really can't be dropping games like this.

Oregon really misses having someone like Duarte who could create his own shot or get hot when everyone around him was cold. They just don't have that with Richardson being the leader this year.

Richardson needs to get his act together...His shooting has dropped off and is bordering on pathetic and his ball handling decisions are sub par...We need a leader on the floor, not just another body..greenyellow wrote:Hasn't been the best start against a bad team like ASU but at least Oregon was able to get a lead entering halftime. DVR’d but accidentally saw the score. A very bad loss especially since ASU doesn’t have Bagley.

I’ve said it before but I feel like Oregon is full of role players then Richardson, who has the talent and skill to be a star and leader but lacks the killer mentality. Richardson is frustrating cause if he wasn’t so fearful and timid he’d be really good. I feel like he needs therapy or something to help him get past the timidness.

Richard ain’t no Pritchard for sure, not close. Completely undependable. Outside of UCLA (maybe Zona), this is a really, really, REALLY crappy conference. Rhetorically, how did this conference sink so low in revenue sports? New commish has his hands full. How many losses outside of conference to lower tiered schools already? WTF?

Just watched the 21min highlights.
Some quickie observations:
1) Will Richardson didn't gain any strength in the off-season and I think that is going to be a big difference maker. Don't think he'll be able to bear the load as our #1 option due to his inability to take contact when he drives, which is important because he has the ability to get by defenders pretty easily... but he gets thrown off by a little contact. meh...
2) Kepnang is looking good all around on offense and defense. Offensively: good mobility, coordination, and post ability. Defensively, playing smart on the pick & roll and good mobility. Still room to grow on D but he could be real good. His motor is really good too. I think he is going to end up being one of our top players before the end of the season.
3) On the other hand, Dante still looks a step slow on both ends (still coming off injury), but it especially sticks out on defense. Other teams will have a field day with the guards if we ever switch on p&r. He still looks a bit clunky and more important, and I don't think he will a high-level shot-blocker. His reaction time is really slow on defense.
4) ASU guards seemed to be hitting shots that they normally wouldn't make.
5) However, part of their good shooting was due to our perimeter defense. While we seemed to keep their guards in front of us decently, our perimeter defense was just soft in the first half. We didn't get up on the players when they had the ball on the perimeter so they felt comfortable enough to rise up and shoot whenever they wanted.... with that being said, we played much tighter in the 2nd half. The only problem is that they kept making shots even with more contests.
6) #13 is a poor defender. Bad combination of lazy and low defensive IQ.
7) #5 should not be a main ball-handler for us. He's not terrible, but just not a shot-creator.
8) Not sure what to think of #11 and #42 yet, but they have some good things going for him. They both give good effort and have fun/unique style of play so I like the potential. A bit raw.
9) Really bad court awareness by Will Rich on the last play of the game. He pulled up for a 10foot contested jumper when he had a wide open lay-up available. Yikes.
10) We should have won that game.
