C Isaac Johnson enters transfer portal
In an not too unexpected move, C Isaac Johnson has entered the transfer portal.

Can’t lie, a friend texted me “Center Isaac Johnson is transferring” and I didn’t know whether that was a basketball Center or football Center. Best of luck to him but this is definitely the best move for him.

Lame but can’t have 4 7-footers and not expect one to leave.

Of all the big men to leave, I'm glad it's him. But with Kel'el Ware incoming, I expect one of Dante, Big Franck, and Bittle to leave as well.

Not surprised. Really hope Bittle sticks it out.

To me Altman HAS to find a way to play 2 bigs.
Hasn't done it successfully at Oregon, but I think Bittle and Ware can both play the 4 if they work on their defense.

Agree. The problem is that the game has changed so much that none of our players know how to play inside-out. Our strength is our size and we didn't play to it this year.GrantDuck wrote:To me Altman HAS to find a way to play 2 bigs.

If Dante stays, we need to redesign our offense to have the bigs be our #1 option next season... unless we get a stud guard via transfers.

Re: C Isaac Johnson enters transfer portal
One of the frustrations I had with Dante was how far out he’d be when he took the entry pass, he needed to be lower in the paint. That allowed way too much time for an opposing defense to double him. However with that said the wings did him no favors as they were incredibly slow at rotating the ball around the perimeter plus when Dante was doubled they’d just stand and watch, none of our guards seemed to realize you can cut to the hoop if you don’t have the ball…
With that said I hope Dante returns but wouldn’t blame him, especially if our guards come back, if he transfers. I believe with Dante, Kepnang, Guerrier, and Bittle, we could have an amazing front court next year IF Altman brings in selfless guards who know how to play basketball the right way, not overly ball dominant guards who were “me first” players. Dante should be able to get 20-10 a game easily in college but when you have Jacob Young AKA the college Russell Westbrook it’s hard to get those numbers.

He's headed to Utah State, per Johnson's IG account.
