It was pretty sparse all game long. Bad teams + bad weather = poor attendancekarlhungis wrote:Wow, that crowd is embarrassing. Did they leave once it turned into a blowout or has it been this sparse all game?

It's been horrific all year. They announced 7k last Saturday, and if there were more than 4k who showed up then I'll be damned. They announced 6k against Denver a week and a half ago, and there's no way there more than than 1500 people there.

Loyd was really impressive. He has great poise for a freshman, is a solid passer, and has a nice stroke. He also appears to have good shot selection. He has good footwork on the defensive end, but he's definitely undersized.
It's a breathe of fresh air to see an Oregon basketball team that plays in control, runs set plays, and actually plays defense.
The team will probably be terrible this year, but these guys are going to bring it every night, effort wise.
Maybe they will surpass my prediction of 10 wins.
I'd expect the team to draw better once they move into the new arena. Hopefully people rally behind this team and support these players and Coach Altman.

“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

Re: Texas Southern @ Oregon
Just got back from the game & wow, we're playing so much better. Texas So definitely has some long athletes that could compete so its not like we blew out a terrible team.
I'm loving the full court press & the tenacity all the guys play with, its not just one or two.
Loyd is gonna be really good. He seems to fit right into what Altman wants. Armstead not so much. Apparently he didn't like the PGs role in DA's system & thats why he was considering leaving. Looks he's still struggling with it.
Singler is great too. Does just about everything on the floor & does it really well.
All in all a pretty impressive performance against a team that just beat a pretty talented beev team.

Actually makes the Civil War much less dreadful and actually makes me think Oregon could easily win them if they keep on improving.cordy02c wrote:what makes this win better is tsu beat the beavs

UO seems to be playing hard every game and improving a little bit each game. Nared might be the perfect example of that, he just seems to be getting more and more comfortable each game. Duke could be ugly, but at least we are seeing improvement from week to week.

Duke will be an ugly game but I am sure the guys will play hard and not give up and will press most/all of the game and learn some things and get better.

I think Mizzou will run us out of the building, too.
@ Virginia will be interesting. Stanford and Washington blew them out, but the Cavs took it to Oklahoma yesterday.

Duke and Missouri will be a great learning
experience for the ducks. You play the best
you learn from the best. If they play well and
give the effort like they did last night then when
the Pac10 play starts they will be ready.

Missouri will be interesting. I doubt Oregon will win, but thus far into the season the Tigers have been underwhelming (only beating Wyoming by 10 and Western Illinois by 5). Granted, they still have multiple games between now and the Oregon match-up, including a good test at Georgetown, but Missouri has not been a world beater (Duke) just yet. In addition, Missouri is almost always beatable as Doc Sadler and Nebraska can attest to - no matter how bad his team might be, he seems to put up a good fight against Missouri.
I mean, even if it is not a good game (which predictions say it shouldn't), hopefully it isn't any worse than last year.

This team can't get better by playing patsies at home so striking out on the road for some games against some major conference teams will be good for them.

Mizzou isn't the same team as last year, and UVA isn't better than UO. That game should be a close game and the only reason I think UO loses is because it at Virgina.
