"Amidst a sea of controversy that saw likely 2011 Heisman Trophy candidate Terrelle Prior and 4 other Ohio State players suspended for the first 5 games of the 2011 season for a scandal involving everything from tattoos to memorabilia to sold trophies, Ohio State head football coach Jim Tressel announced on Friday night that the 2010-2011 football season has been his last." (Friday Night??? It's only Thursday...)

“I understand that the timing of this is, in light of the last week’s events, less than fortuitous.” Tressel said in a statement released to the press at at 6:00pm Friday night. “But this is a decision that my wife and I made several months ago, and at that time we chose this date to announce it to the public and the wonderful fan base of The Ohio State University.” Tressel continued. “I notified the team of our decision shortly after we beat Michigan, and decided that we would stick to our plan.”

Coach Tressel finished with this: “My decade here at Ohio State has been a wonderful journey. I have had the opportunity to share what I could with hundreds of remarkable kids, and have enjoyed every moment of it.”

I highly doubt it!

If there were an ounce of truth to this, every news organization in the country would be frothing at the mouth!

If anything it should "will be" and the 2010-11 season isn't wrong since that is the academic year schools are currently in. Plus their last game is in 2011 so the football season for OSU is 2010-11. I'm still calling BS on this report if it hasn't been seconded by at least SI or ESPN.

Well yes, but the season hasn't been finished yet, so the use of "has been" seems a tad inaccurate.

The use of "has been" really makes the statement suspect since I doubt Tressel would phrase a statement like that and no other source has come out with a report about this.
