RRod - Job Security?

Post by Duck07 »

How much longer will RRod remain in Ann Arbor? He certainly doesn't carry himself like someone who even wantsto be back next season. Certainly UM is going to go hard after Harbaugh on Tuesday morning, but will he take it? I don't think UM goes back to RRod, thats for sure.

My guess is that they are waiting until after the Orange Bowl to make a serious push with Harbaugh. I think they want to make sure they have him in the bag before they make an announcement. Last time, they swung and missed on Les Miles and had way too much egg on their face. They are looking for a cleaner transition this time.

No way in hell Rich Rod is back there next year. If he is, Michigan is completely retarded.

About a week.

I wonder if Pitt would consider Rich Rod. I actually don't think he's a bad coach. He had great success at West Virginia and was only given 3 years at Michigan to implement his system. Michigan's problem this year was injuries and terrible defense.
“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

I think Pitt will go with someone without the baggage that RRod has coming from Michigan, possibly someone with NFL coaching experience, although that didn't work out too well with Wannstadt.

He had a good thing going there, but he had to see if the grass was greener on the other side. I bet he wouldn't have done it if he knew the outcomes of his first 3 years at Michigan.

I wonder if Steve Mariuchi's name pops up anywhere this offseason. I saw he is coaching at the UA game, but haven't heard his name in the coaching carousel lately. I could see him wanting the Michigan job or perhaps Stanford if that opened up.

I see it all the time, the "grass is always greener" mentality, I agree why do people leave a good/great thing for a chance at something else, its odd but people make this mistake constantly!

RichRod just got fired this morning so I wonder what Mich does now?

I've heard rumors that they may take a look at San Diego State's head coach. He's got a Michigan clause in his contract or something, that allows him to leave if Michigan were to offer the job.

There's also the chance that Les Miles may go back. He played for them, and was an assistant coach there in the early 80s. The LSU fans I've talked to are especially frustrated with him and probably wouldn't mind if he left.

I would rather have Les Miles stay at LSU since he'll continue to waste talent.

I wonder if the grass tastes better in Ann Arbor than it does in Baton Rouge.

They have FieldTurf in Michigan Stadium so I don't think he'll leave for fake grass.

He could always take a patch from around campus and keep it nearby to munch on.

It does sound like they are going after Bolden. Seems like a questionable and expensive choice if this is what they go with. I am surprised that they fired RRod without a solid replacement in the bag.
