Blount suspension not related to academics.....
At least according to him.

Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount said Saturday his indefinite suspension from the football team stemmed from missing winter workout sessions.
Blount’s suspension was announced Tuesday by UO coach Mike Bellotti for “a failure to fulfill team obligations.” Blount said the move related to his attendance at strength and conditioning workouts and not to academics, as widely speculated.
“School is not it,” Blount said Saturday afternoon at McArthur Court after watching the UO women’s basketball game. “I am academically eligible.”

Sweet. That's pretty much what I was thinking it was. Actually, that's exactly what I thought it was.

So, does the suspension fro all team activities mean he will not be allowed to train and condition?
Sort of a double edged sword, eh?

It's great he decided to return to school. Blount said. “They don’t know how I feel. They don’t know if I’m hurting or not." I hope he's now realized he needs to call to tell them. They won't just assume anything.

These young men don't realize they a working for a big business, I guess. Failure to show up for work can get you 'fired' if you aren't following proper procedure.
Not only do the coaches have the responsibility to put a quality product on the field, they also have a responsibility to monitor the activities, health, and well-being of these young men.
Communication is a big part of that business.
Lesson learned I hope.

Re: Blount suspension not related to academics.....
The important part of this thread is that Blount can get back on the coaches' good sides and be back for spring ball. I'm glad that it wasn't academic. It is easier to get in the good graces with the coaches than with the NCAA for grades.

Re: Blount suspension not related to academics.....
The original report I heard was missed a few classes and workouts. So while it is not academics it could be. He said he arrivd back in Eugene late from winter break and was also sick. Stands to reason if he missed workouts for those reasons he also missed any classes on those days.UOducksTK1 wrote:Good to hear that it's not academics related.

Re: Blount suspension not related to academics.....
It sounds to me is that it was simple lack of communication and even though he thought it was justified, the coaches don't know what he's thinking and he got suspended...case closed. I'm sure now that they are in communication everything is fine but the coaches now want to see him work his butt off!
