Per Mops, Altman visited Henry in Dallas and offered him a scholarship. Henry has stated previously that he already held an offer from Oregon, but was waiting for more schools to offer. He's been waiting for a USC offer, but it doesn't look like they are interested. I know that Jabari Brown has been hard at work trying to convince other recruits to go to Oregon. If it comes down to Oregon and Marquette, I like Oregon's chances.
For those of you who aren't familiar with Henry - he's a 6'8 SF, good defender, great finisher, has pretty good midrange game. Really skinny. Has the potential to become a good outside shooter. In terms of playing style - think Al Farouq Aminu (though not that kind of athlete or rebounder). He's a 4 star recruit on both scout and rivals.

“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

Strengths:
Jarion is a left-handed skilled small forward who can do a little bit of everything on the floor. Offensively, he spends a lot of his time away from the basket due to his skill level and lack of girth. At 6-7 he can step out to 3 and drive the ball past defenders to the basket. Once he puts the ball on the floor everything is to the rim. However, his game is in transition and on the offensive glass. Jarion fills the lane for easy baskets at the rim, and continuously keeps balls alive on the offensive glass for 2nd and 3rd opportunities. This is where his quick bounce off the floor and good feet come to help him.
Weaknesses:
He lacks a great stroke from 3 which makes him inconsistent from the arc. Henry could be on a steady climb in the class of 2011 Texas rankings if he produces on a consistent basis. If he can continue to hone his skills and temper his emotions, his ceiling is unlimited.
Sounds like a project with a lot of potential. Would be a solid pick up considering we don't have a true SF on our roster.

Re: Jarion Henry
Henry's definitely a guy I was hoping we'd continue to go after. Don't really like our chances with Daniels & Henry is the next best guy out there. Would be an awesome addition to the class.

I like to hear that Altman is already hitting the recruiting trail. The fact that
it is the middle of the season of the season probably just reinforces the fact
we are skint on talent.

I think Altman is trying to close out this season of recruiting on a high note, so saying he is "already hitting the recruiting trail" could be a minor mis-statement...
Seeing pictures of Henry, and looking at his measurables, takes me back to when my brother was an Oregon prospect... Except my 6'9" brother entered his eventual school a full 25lbs lighter than Henry (which was the main reason he didn't end up playing for the Ducks).

I don't think he ever stopped recruiting since players always end up changing their minds and Oregon could be the benefactor of that change.woundedknees wrote:I think Altman is trying to close out this season of recruiting on a high note, so saying he is "already hitting the recruiting trail" could be a minor mis-statement...
