Brett Kingma

Post by justducky0 »

UO recruit Brett Kingma hit 10 three-pointers in a game last week, scoring 43 points as his Jackson High School team posted a 91-74 victory.

The Everett Herald newspaper lists the 6-2 Kingma as averaging 29.3 points and 4.5 rebounds, and he's making 80 percent of his free throws..

A quote the newspaper has from Jackson coach Steve Jackson: "I have to believe that there isn't one coach out there who wouldn't fear him the most in a game where one shot could beat him."

Can't wait for him to get here. With Loyd, Armstead, Kingma, Brown & Joseph, we're gonna have a really sweet back court next year. Then add in Sim & Barron for some solid depth. We'll win quite a few games next year, especially if nothing drastic happens & the conference stays like it is.

It's going to be awesome to have a knockdown shooter of Kingma's caliber.

That average is half the production of the current Oregon roster... Add in Jabari Brown, and its closer to 90%.

Mix decent shooting with the effort on the floor of Altman's team and this is a potent combination.

If Kingma can score at anything near the pace that BYU's Jimmer Fredette is pumping it in (So far this season, Jimmer is averaging 26.7 PPG), Oregon fans will be ecstatic.

If he learns to handle the rest of his game anywhere near as well, it's all gravy.

It's amazing just how similar those 2 are. Both are about 6'2" and 190 lbs, have silky smooth jumpers, and come from athletic families that really pushed them.

This is certainly exciting news and the guard position looks to be a strength heading into the next couple years. Now its time for Altman to go sign some big guys so the Ducks can establish a presence in the paint. I think next year's team should make a push for a postseason birth whether it be in the CBI Tournament or the NIT and also to finish at around .500 in the Pac-12.

Sorry folks, but the only thing the CBI offers is extra practices... + The NIT is fading fast.

I honestly have better hopes than that for next season, especially if the Ducks somehow snag Henry or Daniels.

Damn St. Johns!

You can see in Altman's offense that a scorer like Kingma
will do great. He put's the ball in the point guards hands
and he gets things started. Now Altman needs more big guys.
Big guys that can bang the glass and create will wreck havoc
either scoring or kicking to the shooters spotting up. Look at the
Civil war game, 24 baskets with 18 assists. That's team work.
The last couple of years it took the ducks 2 or 3 games to get that
many assists. Altman's offense isnt that difficult to see how it
works. Stopping it will be another matter. You can see it now, Oregon
gets good looks, they get the ball low pretty well just cant finish
consistently. The other intangible is how hard they play. As the
talent gets better the Defense which is improved will even be better.
The pressure defense will create so much offense for the ducks.
Cant wait to see the infusion of talent coming in next year and
what Altman can do with them...
