Re: Weber State @ Oregon
Weber State comes into the game with a record of 18-13 overall record 11-5 Big Sky. Weber State lost in the Big Sky semi finals to Montana.
Damion Lillard our star point guard went down earlier this year in a game at Tulsa, and the team has had to play the rest of the season without him. Weber's go to guys are senior point guard Lindsey Hughey, senior Center Trevor Morris, junior forward Kyle Bullinger and soph SG Scott Bamforth.
Kyle Bullinger and Scott Bamforth both made the Big Sky first team and Scott Bamforth leads the nation in 3 point field goal percentage at 54.4%.
Weber has the potential to be very dangerous, but we havent played really well on the road in the OOC. We lost at Utah State, Utah, Tulsa, St.Marys, San Jose State and lost to Arizona State up in Alaska, we also lost by 6 at home to BYU. (by the way for those who dont know, Weber State is located in Ogden Utah)
Dont take this the wrong way, we arent blaming you guys, but we here in Wildcat country are all a little peeved, when the CBI contacted Weber State we signed a contract and laid down the money to host a first round game and the CBI said we were guaranteed a home game, only to find late Sunday night that the CBI turned around and gave it to Oregon, an Oregon team with a losing record, you could understand why we arent very happy.
But thats water under the bridge, and we still get to play in the post season and thats all that really counts. good luck on wednesday, Im expecting an Oregon win but hoping for a Wildcat victory.

The NCAA has never ever been fair. What size is Weber States arena? Would it draw
a large crowd ? TV Market ? Those are I'm sure considerations. Conference makes a difference also to the NCAA. Good luck and let's hope it's a good game and both teams prove that they deserved to play.

Weber State's Dee Events Center holds 12,000 Weber State also led the Big Sky in attendance, our game high was 10,453 against nationaly ranked BYU

Here is a pretty cool video of a game we had earlier this year, its a buzzer beater against Northern Colorado, but it gives you a pretty good showing of the Dee Events Center
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAPkYwf3scg
A game at home to Oregon would draw a very large crowd at the Dee, Weber State has tried to get home and homes with a lot of western teams, teams from the WAC, Mtn. West and the WCC. Utah who has played Weber every year since 1976 will cease to play Weber at the Dee anymore after 2011 since they will be joining the Pac 10. Nobody will come and play us in our arena, we have built a great winning tradition here at Weber so its a suprise to me why bigger teams wouldnt want to play in our arena, it wouldnt hurt thier RPI. So if a big named school should come to the Dee it would create quite the buzz that the Purple Palace would fill up.
I had a conversation with a friend of mine who is a Utah fan and he said Utah drew meager crowds when they hosted Oklahoma and Michigan. I told him that if Weber had Oklahoma or Michigan at our house the place would sell out in an instant.
I would love to see Oregon play at Weber but I dont see it happening.

Sucks that the CBI organizers ran you guys through the ringer a bit. The one memory I have of Weber State is Harold Arceneaux and Co. beating North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament in 1999.

Wildcat: Thanks for the info.
Playing against a team with the leading 3-pt shooter in the nation is not good news for the Ducks. During several of their losses, they were burned by excellent 3-pt shooting.
You answered your own question about getting BCS schools to play at your arena, when you said you have built a winning tradition there. A non-BCS team that wins at home in front of crowds that are bigger than at many BCS schools, scares BCS coaches to death. They want nothing to do with you. Even though it might not do serious damage to their RPI, the perception is that it's a bad loss. I think if a BCS school is actually willing to take a chance on a non-con road game (and most are not), they would rather take that chance at another BCS school. That's just the way it is when you have a good non-BCS program. Nobody wants to play you.

Its true, Weber State has treid to get home and homes with Nevada, Boise State, Wyoming, Air Force, San Diego State, UNLV, New Mexico, St. Mary's and Gonzaga. None of them would do it, but UNLV would go play at Southern Utah
Its a good and a bad thing, I think its cool that teams are affraid to play here, but Im tired of watching games against nobodies. We had 4 OOC home games this year, Colorado Christian, The University of the Southwest, Seattle and BYU, not that BYU is a nobody, but I am also tired of the fact that the best teams we can get at the Dee are instate schools, (BYU, Utah, and Utah State) and even now, Utah will no longer come play at the Dee. Lucky for us Tulsa decided to accept a return trip to Ogden next season.
