Evidently, this guy is saying Texas is actively behind many of the "Street Agent" allegations.

In other words, UT wrote the manual, and if you are making inroads into Texas recruiting, you just became a target...

"We’re also calling high school coaches to inform them about cheating. We did exactly that on signing day, in fact. It’s a strategy of making sure everyone’s on notice in an effort to level the playing field. There’s a lot at stake — money, power, and jobs."

Can't call a player before he signs, but the coach is fair game... Sounds like a loophole being exploited.

Those comments after the article show a huge level of arrogance... Evidently, if Texas doesn't make room for a local kid, he is supposed to cool his jets instate, rather than getting an education while playing football elsewhere.

How oblivious can this Geez Shuttlesworth character be to not see that the same words he is citing are showing how he has bought hook-line-and-sinker into a game of well-funded, self-serving charades?

In what universe does wrapping up a top 5-10 class every year before Summer starts indicate that Texas needs to help level the playing field?

This guy “Big Cigar” literally explains that this street agent story is being pushed forward, not due to its own merits but because of direct UT manipulation of the media. And that is supposed to indicate that UT is the paragon of clean football? lol. Astonishing.

If anything, this article suggests that the NCAA needs to look into potential booster violations by UT involving their relationships with media outlets and high school coaches.

Apparently, leveling the playing field, to UT, won’t be complete until every other team just agrees that UT should be able to pick from every recruit in the nation and should be in the NC game every year. Because, duh, as our pal Big Cigar says, “we have a network!” lol. I couldn’t have made this reading experience up.

What a bunch. They lose a handful of in-state recruits over a few years time and they launch a full-scale media campaign to blame others for it. It’s such an honorable thing to do that people are boasting about it under fake names.

They seem to have an inferiority complex to other schools, even though they have a top program with top-flight players. I'm really out the pro-Texas group now and will gladly cheer for Oklahoma now in the Red River Shootout.

Well, the only way the ncaa even finds these violations is when it gets reported to them. IIRC, the entire reason for OU being busted from Big Red's Auto Sales and Rhett Bomar, the QB getting paid for work he didn't do was because a woman who worked at that particular dealership either first reported the allegation or she verified the rumor (forget which) and from there the ncaa had something to go after and they busted Bomar/OU for it. This is probably no different than SMU in the 80s where UT is making sure someone else gets busted so nobody comes looking at them.

No kidding. I agree with Wheaton, the "Level Playing Field" argument is laughable. There is nothing level about it to begin with; networks of high school coaches (some who feel it's more appropriate to call UT about potential violations than the NCAA), & a sweetheart ESPN television deal (who apparently will bend over backwards to please their darling; if you believe whats written in that article).

For sure... UT watches Oregon go to the Natty with three Texas kids staring on the team, meanwhile they go 5-7 and miss a bowl game for the first time since 1997... they take their football very serious down there....
