No Double Standard here!

Post by woundedknees »

What a different perspective on recruiting dollars when the media is talkiing about the SEC...

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011 ... n_rec.html

"Alabama spent more than $218,000 the last three years on services to provide the school with recruiting information, compared to $99,000 for Auburn. Both schools provided information on how much they have spent the last three years following a Freedom of Information request. "

"Alabama has been fairly consistent, having spent $85,000 from July 2008-June 2009, $81,000 the following year and $52,626 in the following 10-month period that ended this March. Auburn spent $44,000, $15,000 and $40,000 over the same reporting periods."

"A case could be made that it has been money well spent. Various websites rated Alabama's recruiting in the top three nationally, if not No. 1, in each of the last three years. Auburn was rated as high as No. 1 in 2009 and as high as No. 2 in 2010. "

"Alabama's largest single buys were to Rising Stock/XOS, a total of $42,5000 over the last three years; and Elite Scouting Services LLC at $30,000 over the last two years. Auburn spent $14,000 with All Pro Sound three years ago, but none since. It spent $12,495 with Video for Athletes this year. Auburn also has spent as little as $39.95 to a recruiting provider."

"Alabama coach Nick Saban says he uses the services as a tool in a larger recruiting landscape."

"Saban said the NCAA should "crack down" on all the unscrupulous services, "but I don't know if the NCAA has the authority to do that. There should be some controls. All of this information is good and helpful, but when it gets to a personal level -- when somebody starts to be a representative for somebody -- then that's where a lot of problems can start happening."

Better watch them Oregon fellers... They's dirty as last year's laundry!

So even with all their history and built-in recruiting advantages, they still have to use the same type of services that Oregon does. The only thing that made Oregon stand out was that they got into TX and mined some recruits that those schools never bothered with.
