Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
I don't care if he was underage in a bar. I never had a fake ID, but I had a TON of college buddies (including my now-wife) who went into bars all the time underage. That's no big deal.
On the subject of pot-laws, I have a friend who is a cop up in Seattle. If he pulls someone over with a tiny amount of pot, he gives them the option do a "pot dance" where he makes them do a super goofy dance on the pot in the street to basically get rid of it and kind of embarrass them. He says the do it every time and are very happy to not get taken in. He says what happens to them isn't worth his time or paperwork compared to "real" crimes. Him telling the stories are great!

Amazes me. 210 Pages on this at tiger droppings in less than 24hrs.
One thing about the SEC that's definitely true is their passion. Good or bad. Amazing ! We get 111 pages on photo's and it takes 2 1/2 years

Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
Conflicting reports from the fight. Les Miles has a press conference today.
Several people who claim to have witnessed the incident tell 9NEWS that around 2 a.m. Friday, a young man driving a truck blew his horn to get a group of people blocking the driveway to move out of the way at Shady's Bar on East Boyd Ave. That's when they say a group of people pulled the driver out of the truck and began beating him. That's when they say a Marine who had just returned from training ran to assist the driver and was beaten and thrown to the ground. Multiple people who claim to have witnessed the incident tell 9NEWS LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson then kicked the Marine in the head.
While some tell us Jefferson was involved in the fight, at least one witness says Jefferson was not involved, and that she never saw him throw a punch. EMS was called to the scene.

Last I checked it's completely possible to tick someone in the head without throwing a punch...maxduck wrote:Conflicting reports from the fight. Les Miles has a press conference today.

I jest - a little bit anyway, but it would seem that there's some smoke here. Even Les acknowledged that SOMETHING happened that his players were involved with...

This case just sounds so stupid and shows a lack of thinking on the part of the assaulters. Do people have no common decency to not take offense at someone honking at them to move from the entrance of a driveway and move? People should realize they have to move when a vehicle is coming into and out of a parking lot.glazeduck wrote:Last I checked it's completely possible to tick someone in the head without throwing a punch...maxduck wrote:Conflicting reports from the fight. Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
Why do I have a feeling no players will be suspended for the Oregon game?
How long did it take CK to suspend Cliff Harris for getting his speeding ticket? I think the fact that Les Miles seems to know what happened and still hasn't suspended anyone makes me doubtful that he will at all.
I wish we could see both of these teams play each other at full strength (which already isn't happening, with Harris being out), but I also believe these athletes need to be held accountable for their actions. These are lessons that must be learned in college, because they'll never learn them in the NFL.

Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
Considering the police haven't charged anyone yet, Miles won't be the first one to act in this case. It also wouldn't shock me if the cops took their time until bringing charges, but I'd suspect the victims in this case and some in the community would really raise a sh*tstorm if that happened.pezsez1 wrote:Why do I have a feeling no players will be suspended for the Oregon game?

Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
I'd expect a suspension is forthcoming...just don't know of whom.
I seriously doubt the next two things are true:
1) LSU players decide...as a team...to go out on a beating rampage, assaulting perfectly innocent horn honkers and those that come to the rescue of said horn honker. I guarantee you that isn't what went down.
2) LSU players were out witnessing for the Lord when they were attacked by a raving lunatic in a pickup truck and a US Marine fresh out of boot camp.
I'd say the truth is somewhere in between, but without any real evidence (the "witnesses" that all just happened to be friends with the Marine guy don't count), who knows what'll happen. It just shocks me that, in this day and age, NOBODY has posted a video or even a still pic ANYWHERE of an LSU player whoopin some poor innocent bystander.
And FWIW, I don't think JJ was the fighter here. I believe it was one of the WRs.

Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
I'm shocked as well that no footage has come out, considering most people at a club/bar have a cellphone with a video camera and people of club/bar-going age tend to take picture/footage of a fight going on (at least those that I hung out with did.)Fishhead wrote:I'd expect a suspension is forthcoming...just don't know of whom.

Video of Les Miles press conference http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.db ... EM_ID=5200.
One comment I found interesting "I can tell you we have started disciplining our team because this was a team violation. This was not just a guy. This was the team.". Obviously the entire team wasn't involved in the incident, but he thinks all members of the team have a duty to enforce proper behavior and keep teammates in line. He is correct, IMO.

Sounds like he was making them run until they couldn't run anymore. Hopefully that teaches some of them to behave themselves in the future.maxduck wrote:Video of Les Miles press conference http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.db ... EM_ID=5200.

Sounds serious for Jefferson. Second degree battery charges with prison time if found guilty. Doensn't sound like he will be playing in the game.
"Jefferson and redshirt offensive tackle Chris Davenport face second degree battery charges while junior starting defensive tackle Josh Downs and freshman wide receiver Jarvis Landry will be charged with simple battery.
If found guilty of second degree battery, Jefferson and Davenport could face as serious a punishment as three to five years in prison and up to a $2,000 fine.
None players in this case have previous criminal records and are unlikely to face the most severe potential sentences if convicted. Downs and Landry would likely receive community service and probation if found guilty.
The arrests will likely lead to suspensions to the foursome. Jefferson has been the starting quarterback of the Tigers since late in his freshman season."

They said earlier that the police were going to make an announcement Monday. If this is true it is going to be a big blow.

Re: Jordan Jefferson Suspect in Bar Fight
This could be the second consecutive year where LSU's opening game has been marred somewhat by possible suspensions. Last year, it was LSU's opponent in UNC, with all their agent and academic charges. Now, it's LSU with this incident and Oregon with Alonso and Harris.
