Well, I will say this. From what I have watched and read about the Duck’s offense, it takes a special type of back to run it. I really think your typical bruiser SEC back would not be successful in that system. Trindon Holliday would of TORN it up though.

Bud sure a bruiser back can. Blount ran over and thru people. The ducks offense is a
run first offense. They run between the tackles. Both LMJ and Barner added weight
in the off season to be able to be more physical between the tackles.

Blount ran for over 1000yds in it, and Jonathan Stewart ran for over 1700yds his SR year in it Bud. But your right it helps if the player is fast, because even Blount had games where he was completely shut down when the D had speed like at SC and at Boise. JStew was just a freak though, 5'11 235 with 4.35 speed, if not for injuries he would be making even a bigger name for himself.

I apologize, I shouldn’t of said wouldn’t. A bigger back would have the edge over a smaller quicker back when it comes to the inside read, I just meant that your current system seems to place the back in a lot of open field scenarios, where making a guy miss can get you more yards than making contact.

The main thing that our backs need is vision. We don't run regular blocking schemes. How our QB and RB line up gives away where we want to run and how we will block but if teams over compensate then our backs can cut back and find holes that the other team leaves elsewhere by loading one side
