The AD is looking to fill that game with a money making one and done. That game is almost always going to be a “cupcake” or sometimes a neutral site game like LSU has done two years in a row.
And my point is, and always has been that every conference would do the same…your stance that the Pac wouldn’t is what is laughable around here.

as to this statement...

The SEC has used that game to schedule patsies. Bring some facts and quit whining when you don't like the info other people's facts.
I’m not whining because I don’t like your fact’s … I just find your posts argumentative and styled is a way to piss me off. You constantly put words in my mouth and argue issues that I am not taking a stance on.

But you go ahead…CLING to the FACT that your conference schedules a tougher OOC like the butt hurt Pac 12 fan you are…go ahead...tell me how horrible we schedule...argue away...cause…well…it all you got to brag about. Is it not?

So you haven't quoted me in various posts trying to refute things that I have said?

I have tried to stick with information, idea, and facts. You on the other hand have been the one setting an arguementative tone and resorted to childish name calling.

As far a money goes I don't think that anyone can say for certain that more money couldn't be had by playing big time match ups. When you schedule a cupcake they usually get a nice check for getting their butts handed to them. It would be a nice point during neogtiating TV contracts that the conference plays lots of big time match ups.

Isn't it possible that the PAC having an inventory of 9 conference games per team plus playing a large number of their OOC against quality opponents helped the PAC get the largest TV deal college football?

3 home games in a 92,000+ stadium and a 1 home and home = butt load more money than 2 home and homes and 2 home games.

Perhaps…or maybe it is the fact that the majority of your teams are on the west coast, which is the largest television market. At least I think it is…someone fact check that for me.

ETA:Oh...and the only reason why you are playing 9 games is because it is carrying over from the years without a championship game. But kudos…I respect that y’all kept it like that. Although not wanting to scramble and find a fourth extra game for the next few years very well might have been a driving factor in keeping it that way…but still kudos because they could of gone down. I suppose we will have to go up to 9 next year.

Making the past two days worth of arguing even more worthless.

I would also like to say a few words:

Missouri State
Nevada
Portland State
New Mexico

Don't act like you don't play cupcakes. If you're such manly men over there in the Pac XII, why don't you schedule 100% BCS schools OOC?

You got us on Nevada and New Mexico, but Oregon only scheduled Portland State (can't recall who) and Missouri State (Utah) due to cancellations that couldn't easily be filled by BCS schools.

Hey man…that’s cool…sh*t happens. I may be speaking out of turn here, but I’m sure Johnny isn’t saying “ha ha wussies!” …he is just pointing out that no one has top opponents every year and that we all have easy wins on the schedule.

I just think it is ridiculous for y’all to thumb your noses at us for scheduling so many more considering our situations are different. Also think it is ridiculus for anyone to speculate that the Pac would double the amount of BCS games if they were in our situation. Show me conference that does that? No does or would.

Also…I have not taken a look yet, but I’m pretty sure that some of your teams don’t play any BSC schools this year or in the past…just like some of ours don’t. And like some of ours…example LSU…I’m sure plays 2 BCS schools in one year on occasion.

That all I’ve been trying to get out there.

But for some reason y’all fight for this like you get prize and frankly it is insulting to read post that say we do it because we are scared to schedule the big games or that we are trying to beat the system.

I’m willing to bet you every team that we have sent to the national championship has played 1 or 2 BCS schools the year that they went…AND…until you send one with the new layout, they had played one more game than anyone that y’all have sent.

There…end rant.

I never said the PAC (or in the specific example you pointed out, the Ducks) don't play cupcakes.

In the specific case of the Ducks both Kansas St. and Georgia have backed out of commitments. So the Ducks aren't running scared.

I have said that the SEC schedules a significantly higher number of cupcakes. Go through the schedule.

I also will reiterate a point that not all non-AQ teams are created equal. And FCS teams are scheduled as W's. There is a difference between (New Mexico, Elon, Northwestern St., Missouri St., Florida Atlantic, UAB, Tennessee-Martin, etc.) and (Boise St., BYU, Houston, Nevada, San Diego St. Central Florida, Fresno St., Hawaii, Army, Navy). The PAC plays more tough non-AQ teams than the SEC.

As far as Auburns cupcakes Samford, Florida Atlantic, and Utah St. this year. Louisiana-Monroe, Arkansas St., and Chattanooga (that's fun to say) last year. Furman, Ball St., LaTech (who went 4-8) in 09. Tennessee-Martin, Louisiana-Monroe, and Southern Miss in 08. I could on.

In 09 the Ducks played @Boise St., Purdue, and Utah. In 08 @Purdue, Boise St., and Utah St. (looks like 1 cupcake). In 07 Houston, @Michigan, Fresno St. In 06 @Fresno St., Oklahoma, Portland St. (looks like 1 cupcake). So the way the Ducks have scheduled in the past and continue to schedule indicates that they aren't trying to duck (pun intented) anyone.

This was about the big picture look at the conference not one specific team. But comparing Auburn to Oregon still proves the point that the SEC schedules more cupcakes.

You guys are taking this way to personal and there are many assumptions being made. The reason the PAC10/12 have played 9 conference games is because teams like WSU & OSU can't afford to play teams to come take a loss and it's hard to sell out a stadium in the PAC10/12 when 1A and mid-major teams come to play. It's not like in the South. Football is bigger in the South. They would sell out stadiums if there teams were having a baking contest.

Regarding the scheduling of the fourth game in the SEC for money....your wrong. They actually pay these teams anywhere from 500K-750K to come in and take these losses. It's purely strategic scheduling. A guaranteed win, season high stats that count toward your averages which count toward you stats, and the smaller school makes a lot of money. I have also heard that the players from these smaller school enjoy the experience of playing in these huge stadiums.
Meyer, meanwhile, knows that as long as his Gators win the Southeastern Conference, even with one loss, he’s probably in the BCS title game. The non-conference is meaningless to the Gators’ title hopes … unless they lose. So why risk it?

UF hasn’t played a non-conference game outside the state of Florida since the BCS was created and had only two outside Gainesville in the past five seasons. The only major non-conference team on the long-term schedule is fading Florida State. The Gators will play South Florida in 2010 and 2015, but other than that, it’s straight sisters of the poor.
“I don’t plan on changing the way we schedule,” Meyer said last summer.

Why would he? Why would anyone? This isn’t just what the BCS rewards, it’s what it demands.
Carroll, for one, tries to schedule only major conference opponents and doesn’t want to hear that retreating is the smartest policy. He believes the thrill is still in the challenge. USC is one of just four schools to have never played a FCS team.

He joins Stoops as part of a small group of coaches who still seeks out two or three powerful non-league opponents each season, fallout be damned.

OU is set up with dates with Ohio State, LSU, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, TCU and Tennessee over the next eight years. Carroll, whose team took two long trips to the Midwest this season, has future series with Notre Dame, Virginia, Boston College, Texas A&M, Syracuse and Hawaii and is looking for more.

It means every year those two national challengers are voluntarily walking a gauntlet, making chasing a championship exponentially more difficult.

They’d be best served joining Texas, Florida and the rest of the crowd that are playing by the rules the BCS has created – line up the weaklings as their fans’ eyes glaze over in boredom (while still charging full price for tickets, of course).

Apparently Pete Carroll and Bob Stoops still believe in the sanctity of the regular season.

It’s the BCS that doesn’t.

Also...after reviewing the evidence one can only conclude that based on the performance on the field that the word "dominant" should not be used when referring to the SEC and the "whole grind of the SEC schedule" is no worse then the PAC.

Not agreed...and there is NO way I would get you to see it my way and NO way you would get me to see it your way...it would just be the same old arguments back and forth.

I think he was saying that the money might be the key factor and not the easy win...that money would not be there if it was a home and home away.

Plus all schools get paid when they go to another’s stadium. They get a percentage of the take…at least that is what I’ve been told…thus bigger take more money, and in the SEC we sell out every week...or close to it.

I read the whole post, the point is still money. The SEC schedules a 4th OOC game and they reap the benefits of another home game... to the tune of millions of dollars. And its been pointed out several times, no AD in their right mind is going to schedule a home and home and miss out on the extra home game every other year. Who comes in without a return trip? Cupcakes.

Some teams might struggle to sell tickets, to which I say play better and your fans will come. No team that plays well has trouble selling out their stadium.

And I wasn't being a dick, I was being right.

You know how people shouldn’t talk religion with people outside their faith…perhaps we shouldn’t talk schedule strength outside your conference….it seems to be a very sensitive topic.
