To be honest, it really did not look like a foul on Poyer's part. Have to roll with the calls though. Tighter game than I thought it would be.

Re: stanford vs osu
I'm tired of helmet to helmet being on the D, Owusu caused that just like last year vs Pleasant. Call it on the WR.

Horse s*** call on Poyer. Why does owusu keep falling asleep on the field?!?

He should just give up football. How many times will it take getting knocked out before he stops playing? Seems like he gets knocked out every other week. 3 already this year and I can think of at least a couple from last year.uodux1212 wrote:Horse s*** call on Poyer. As for the call itself, I didn't think it was targeting at all on Poyer's part. As soon as Owusu put his head and shoulder down, he's a free target. Poyer would have hit Owusu high had Owusu not ducked down. I get the "if in doubt, call a penalty" but sooner or later, the refs have to allow some type of contact to get a player down.

The last few weeks there's been alot of terrible helmet to helmet calls in both college and nfl, Owusu better stop coming to the state of Oregon.

If the db will wraps up and tackles instead of trying to punish the receiver I think they avoid the penalty. They may not jar the ball loose but they probably don't send a player off the field in an ambulance. I don't have a problem with the rule.

Re: stanford vs osu
That's how I see it a natural reaction... Poyer was leading with the shoulder and Owusu dips into the blow. I personal y would like to see a mandatory review made on these to clarify the call as justified. It certainly didn't look deliberate or flagrant to me.
What I hate of the barkrats is that they continually suck and embarrass the conference early season in ooc play, then get their act together and actually play ball. It makes the conference took terrible when they do that.

Max, I dont think anyone has an issue with the rule, its the application that leaves too many questions. I agree with you though, if Poyer had wrapped his arms around Owusu, then this would be a non-issue.

Re: stanford vs osu
I think probably the rule could be modified accordingly. If you don't wrap up obviously you are targeting the opposing player, if you hit the head it's a penalty (Sort of along the lines of a face mask call, it doesn't need to be intentional). If you do wrap up you get a lot more leeway.TualatinDuck wrote:Max, I dont think anyone has an issue with the rule, its the application that leaves too many questions. For what it's worth I don't think Poyer was targeting the head.

You are absolutely correct. He should never step on a football field again.greenyellow wrote:He should just give up football. How many times will it take getting knocked out before he stops playing? Yikes, him and their TE are out for our game. They still have weapons, but you'd have to think that would help us.
