Kelly is a Lock to be Successful

And then there's the third key, the reason why Kelly spurned Syracuse and his other suitors to hang around for this job: Oregon is big-time. The Ducks have a near-permanent place in the top 20. They're entrenched as the Pac-10's maid of honor to USC. Having Nike down the street, and a CEO there who loves his yellow and green, helps, too. And with Bellotti down the hall (he takes over as athletic director July 1), Kelly has a buddy to help him navigate the challenges he's never had to handle before.

The only thing I'm worried about with Kelly is him handing the offensive reins to a new OC.

I think Kelly will do very well, but I don't like to hear the word "lock" on this board.

No worries. Chip is too compulsive to just hand over the reins without the recipient being a rising star & a clone of himself. He is thoroughly aware of what is at stake. Get used to him being HC & OC for awhile.

I'm sure he will spend time grooming his replacement before he gives him call duties.

ill be very interested to see what Chip does with the offense. I can see him calling plays this year and then finding a OC which IMO is when it will get interesting. If the offense produces similar numbers this year, keeping it a top 10 offense, what will Chip do if the new OC comes in and he can see the numbers slipping? Could be an interesting situation

I'm much more concerned with what he does on the defensive side of the ball. Wonder if he had to make a deal with Belotti to keep NA around for a certain amount of time?

They said in a couple of articles that CK is stricter than Belloti, in some ways. I hope this carries over to the coaching staff, as well as the team.
A good dollop of accountablity wouldn't hurt the defensive staff.
