Jeezus pal, ever hear of Diante Jackson or Tyreece Gaines. Plus there's this guy (keep it quiet) who Coach Belloti said was the most dangerous football player he'd ever seen with the ball in his hands. Ever hear of a guy named Chris Harper? Didn't think so.

Brown's a good kid. I think his parents were probably thinking of distance traveling or maybe they just didn't feel familiar with Oregon.

Whoever said this situation was just like Boyd was right, imo. But, being influenced by parents isn't a bad thing. Just didn't work out for us this time.

Think about the difference between the recruitment of Bryce Brown, Tajh Boyd, and Ethan Grant. (Yeah, I know he hasn't signed anything yet, but bear with me!)

What single factor is different?

Ethan Grant travelled to Oregon... WITH HIS MOTHER... And she loved the place!

I believe that is key to success with any of these national recruits. If the parents don't visit, or get properly sold by the coaches, chances of a LOI arriving at Oregon take a sharp decline.

That is the one factor that Ernie Kent is notorious for on the recruiting trail.

He sells the parents!

Couldn't agree more, I've been saying the same thing.

Maybe Bryce was just really hungry and told Kiffen he'd commit for a cheeseburger
Seriously, he was probably just really light headed from his fasting.

Oh well though
We got Grant, and now we got a chance at Clay, Jones, Seastrunk, McConico, and more

NOTE TO BRYCE BROWN.

In Chip Kelly's system we have had the 13th pick in the overall draft. A projected 4th round pick(JJ), and a projected 1st round pick in 2010(Blount).

Didn't Brown say that Oregon's offense wouldn't prepare him for the NFL?

It's a lame excuse. Either Brown didn't do his homework, or he is dumber than I thought.

he was probably echoing crap he heard from lame kiffin! no big deal guys. he wasn't going to make or break us, there isn't anything special that he could do in our offense that we wont see from blount, james, grant,HARPER,or anyone else that we put back there. just my opinion!!

Blame the parents, call him names, Lane Kiffin is paying him, etc. Maybe he just liked Tennessee better, or felt like that was the place for him. I couldn't understand why someone would like Tennessee better, and I think Oregon would have been an awesome fit, and I'm guessing everyone on this board agrees with me, but that doesn't mean there's something wrong with Oregon, his parents, or the process. My guess is regardless of what he's said in the past, he just liked Tennessee more. It's not going to be the last time we lose a recruit at the end.

All the best to him and we'll be fine. That said, I still hope we rack up 400 rushing yards on them when we play in 2010.

I dont have an issue with him picking THE VOLS nearly as much as i have a problem with him going out and saying OREGON wont prepare him for the nfl. Assuming you are a duck fan you should have a problem with that as well. I'M JUST SAYIN!!

I have to believe that the football staff has thought of this too. Maybe it's just easier said than done sometimes.

On official visits, are they able to offer tickets to their parents to travel out?

Parents have to pay for their own tickets.

Actually that would be an interesting approach. Maybe it would be better to jump in later rather than early with some of these recruits. I want Oregon and Kelly fresh in these guys minds.
