Oregon Vs Texas Battles

Post by Mops »

Texas has 21 commits and its thought that they would take 24 or 25 guys this year. So they are really close to filling up and there are a few guys Oregon and Texas are both after.

RB-Lache Seastrunk
C-Jake Matthews
WR-Darius White
LB-Corey Nelson
LB-Tony Hurd
ATH-Trovon Reed

IF I had to guess I'd say that White is the only true lock for Texas right now. Matthews, Reed, and Seastrunk are in the running but its more than reasonable to say they wont end up there as well. Should be interesting to see what happens.

No one knows where he really stands. He was at LSU's Junior Day but I think thats the only one. Some say Texas leads. Some say LSU leads. Some even say USC leads. While most say hes totally open. So if I had to say what are chances were, I'd say they are ok, but not the best. Yet we could still make a major push if we get him to visit.

That said I wouldn't put much stock in your hopes of getting him.

To bad Oregon and Texas aren't the only schools recruiting these players. Realistically, Oregon has little to no shot at landing any of these kids. The one little ray of hope is that Travon Reed is scheduled to come to Oregon's junior day.

I wouldn't count out Matthews. Casey is his cousin and he's made mention of Oregon. Plus we have a need for a center and our track record with our RBs is going to get our OL more notice in the eyes of pro scouts. Unger and Toupu both should go in the first 2 rounds of the draft.

I'd put money on us getting Hurd out of the group, and him alone. Matthews is the only other one I think possibly visits.

I think a lot could change over the course of the season depending on how teams on recruits lists perform. Could hurt or help the Ducks in some of these cases.
